June 16-18: 18th Annual Colorado BBQ Challenge

Enjoy world-class BBQ, pig races, beer, live entertainment and kids’ entertainment on Main Street in Frisco. With dozens of purveyors and BBQ companies trying to take home another blue ribbon, the Frisco BBQ Challenge offers too many delicious foods to eat in two days and you can sample everyone’s famous barbecued dishes and live music adds to the festivities.

July 2-4: Frisco’s Fantastic Fourth of July

Frisco’s Fantastic Fourth of July is Summit County’s largest hometown parade, family entertainment, arts and crafts fair, and free concerts for the holiday. Phenomenal fireworks spectacular over Frisco Bay Marina on Dillon Reservoir can be viewed and it is a spectacular event to be a part of. The parades and activities take place on Frisco’s Main Street. There is also the Downtown Frisco Green Art Fair (on July 2 and 3) going on during this time, which features renowned artists from all over the country showcasing their art. July 30: Canine 4K

Bring your dog and your walking shoes for a barking good time! The Canine 4K is great exercise and socialization for everyone and gives owners a chance to enjoy a beautiful day in the mountains with thier friend and donate to a good cause, the League for Animals and People of the Summit (LAPS). There are running and walking categories, a silent auction, lots of pet vendors with goodies, and great prizes!

Aug 7: ‘Vettes on the Rockies

The ‘Vettes on the Rockies is a fun-filled day featuring over 500 corvettes from the nearby regions. The corvette owners come from all over to how of their car or cars (some have over 50 corvettes) and main street is littered with the multitude of cars!

August 13-14: 5th Annual Main Street to the Rockies Art Festival

This is a popular outdoor festival in Frisco that features art from over 150 different artists and it is ranked as one of the top art shows in the country! These festivals hop from city to city and the artists change a bit along the way, this is a great festival to check out local art and even buy some it it strikes your fancy.

August 20: 26th Annual Music on Main

Another great Frisco festival, the Music on Main features local cuisine, entertainment and of course a free concert on Frisco’s Main Street! This event has featured the greats like Blue Oyster Cult, Tab Benoit and guitar legend Dickey Betts and this year is shaping up to be as great as if not better than the 2009 lineup. Once again this event takes place on Frisco’s Main Street.

Sept. 10: 4th Annual Beetle Fest

Unfortunately, Summit County’s trees have been plagued with beetles causing them to rot and die and much of the mountain’s forests have fallen prey to the parasites. Beetle Fest is an event to raise money and awareness about the trees and move towards their restoration! It is a fun, zany event and it is contributed to a great cause.
