Keystone Celebrates the Holidays With a Chocolate Village and Keystone Aglow!

Keystone Aglow takes place in Keystone Resort’s River Run Village from December 15th 2011- January 5, 2012.  This lighting event will help your family to celebrate the season!  The mountain will be illuminated with image projectors and specialty lighting set to the tune of a holiday soundtrack. Wander through the village nightly from 6-10pm to celebrate the holidays with your family and friends!

Be sure to see the annual tradition of the Keystone chocolate village at the Keystone Lodge and Spa!  This delicious homemade creation from Keystone Resort’s Pastry Chef Ned Archibald can be seen from December 15, 2011-January 3, 2012 from 3-5 pm. This handcrafted holiday tradition features 2,500 pounds of chocolate crafted into a miniature alpine village, a working chocolate gondola, a cascading chocolate waterfall, 6 foot tall white chocolate Christmas tree with chocolate presents. This mouth watering creation gets a special new addition every year.

Summit County Will Host ProCycle Challenge in Breckenridge in 2012

Summit County cycling fans will be happy to know that the USA ProCycle Challenge for 2012 will include a stage in Breckenridge! Keystone Resort celebrated the festivities in nearby Breckenridge, and drew cycling fans worldwide.  13 cities will be included in the race across Colorado from August 20-26, 2012.  This year, Durango and Boulder were added to the race, adding exciting changes to the course this coming year.  The inagural race in August of 2011, which featured some of the best cyclists in the world,  drew large crowds to Keystone and areas of Summit County.  Take a look at the schedule below, and get an early jump on planning your trip!

Keystone Resort Kidtopia Snow Fort Set to Open December 27th!

Keystone Resort’s KIDTOPIA will kick off for the season starting on December 27, 2011.  The snow fort construction is underway, and will be set for the first KIDTOPIA festival from December 27th to January 3rd!

Bring your kids to Keystone’s winter festival! Explore the ultimate Snow Fort at the top of Dercum Mountain, dance to live music in the plaza, make arts and crafts, go Disco Tubing and join the continuing education activities that fill this weekend on and off the slopes. Bring the whole family for a fun filled, kid friendly weekend.

Kidtopia has a massive Snowfort ready for you to explore complete with a maze, a slide, and a lookout tower this snowfort will be the highlight of your trip!   The snow fort and festivities open daily at 11am at the top of Dercum Mountain, and is free with lift ticket or pass!

Keystone Resort Weekend Report! New Snow and GREAT conditions!

Keystone Resort is reporting 1 new inch of snow going into the weekend, and the SummitCove Yeti was out yesterday snapping some photos along the Snake River!  With no storms in the forecast, getting to Keystone should be easy.  Guests of the resort can look forward to well groomed trails on an 18″ base of packed powder.   10% of the terrain is open, which translates to 306 acres, 11 lifts and 22 runs open!  With a season total of 40″, and the best yet to come, it’s shaping up to be a great ski season!

In addition to the opening of Keystone Lake for ice skating, some great events are coming up in Keystone to kick off the holidays:

Wednesday, December 7th-Saturday, December 10th Keystone Festival of Trees

  • Admire these beautiful trees that have been decorated by local Summit County businesses and kick off the holiday season.  The trees are auctioned off in a fundraiser to support area non-profits!

Friday December 9th-Saturday December 10th The Nutcracker

  • The Summit Community Orchestra and Summit School of Dance present the 6th annual Joint Holiday Concert.  Tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for kids 18 and under with ID, kids 5 and under are free.  Doors open at 6pm; show at 6:30pm

Best in the West Chili Cookoff December 3rd in Frisco!

If you are headed to Keystone Resort for the first weekend in December, mark your calendars for Saturday, December 3rd!  The Best in the West Chili Cookoff will take place from 5-7 pm at the Day Lodge at the Frisco Adventure Park!

Public admission to the event is $20 per person.  To purchase your ticket, or if you want to enter your chili in the People’s Choice contest, see the Town of Frisco website for entry details.

Chili competitors are to bring 1-3 gallons of chili (depending on category) as well as any side or toppings that complete the dish.  Contestants are also to bring their chili in their own container and should bring a heating device to maintain its temperature.  Spoons, bowls, and napkins will be provided.   Chili will be judged as a “People’s Choice”  and winners in 6 categories will win prizes of $100.00.

Keystone Resort Hosts the K2 Pink Chase December 3rd!

Head up to Keystone Resort on December 3rd for the K2 Pink Chase.  The Pink Chase is is an ultimate, on-mountain scavenger hunt that will have you chasing down clues, solving puzzles, performing silly stunts to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research.

Keystone Resort Continues Ski Film Showings with “Attack of La Nina”

Keystone Resort will have a showing of “Attack of La Nina”  by Matchstick Productions on November 11th, 2011 .   The showing will take place at Warren Station in River Run Village at Keystone Resort as part of the ski and snowboard film season.  Doors open at 7 PM, and the movie begins at 8 PM.  The cost is $15 at the door.

Matchstick Production’s latest film, “Attack of La Niña”, chronicles the deepest North American winter in recent history. This new film follows in the footsteps of “The Way I See It”, MSP’s 2010 release and the most decorated ski movie of all time. “Attack of La Niña” showcases the talents of today’s best skiers in a journey through the snowiest winter of their lives. Lake Dillon Theater Presents Three Men and a Lady!

Things That Go Bump in the Night October 29th in Keystone!
