The Mt. Massive Golf Course sits at the base of two of Colorado’s highest mountains, just outside the historic mining town of Leadville, Colorado. Originally established in 1939, the beauty of the scenery has drawn golfers here for over sixty-five years. This challenging course with small-town charm welcomes players of all ages and abilities to enjoy golfing in a majestic and awe-inspiring setting. Mt. Massive is a nine-hole golf course, but can be considered 36-par (total yardage 4958 – 6170) and this course features gorgeous views of the nearby mountains and Turquoise Lake and is America’s highest golf course at 9630 ft.! There are no houses or condos on these fairways, so you just have gorgeous, all-natural views of the fairways and forests. This is a great course to combine with Copper Creek if you are looking to do 2 courses in one day.
To get here from Keystone take Highway 6 back towards Dillon and hop onto I-70 going west. Take exit #195 in Copper Mountain and merge onto CO-91 going south towards Leadville. CO-91 becomes Poplar St. and then turn right onto 9th St and then left onto Harrison Dr. Continue onto Silver Drive and follow this for a while. You will then turn right onto CO-300 and the right onto CO Rd-5 and the course is just straight ahead. Mt. Massive fees range from $23-$62 dependent on number of holes and cart rentals. Dress code: shirt and shoes required. Mt. Massive is open from Mid-May through Mid-October and is a great place to learn how to golf or is less expensive with awesome service. They also have a clubhouse with a pro-shop, cart rental, and have longevity; Mt. Massive has been in operation since 1939.
