Sailing on Lake Dillon

Windrider of the Rockies is located in the Frisco Bay Marina in Frisco. Windrider offers lessons, tours and rentals on sailboats, windriders and paddle boats, but before we get any further, we’ll discuss what a windrider is!

Basically, a windrider looks like a canoe with sails, they have little side buoys for balance and can get going pretty fast on the water. Another description is “armchair” sailing because of the foot pedal steering and the comfortable steering and many of drink holders. Windrider of the Rockies has two different kinds of windriders, one that seats 2 and one that seats 4. The prices range depending on the size of the boat and how much time you want to spend out on the water. For the small boat for 2 hours, the rate is $65 and for 4 hours it is $90, the 4 person boat ranges from $120-$160. If you do not know how to sail, WotR offers lessons on sailing and operating the boat. Windrider also offers the American Sailing Association Certification and you can sign up for basic keelboat 101 and become a certified sailor in no time!
