While Arapahoe Basin is better known for its expert ski areas and expansive backcountry, they also have multiple children’s programs that are excellent. They offer multiple programs to best teach children in groups or individual sessions. They also have multiple special programs aimed for young riders. Reservations are required for all reservations at least 24 hours in advance, so book online at www.arapahoebasin.com or you can give them a call at (888) 272-7246. Note you must sign a waiver and there is a suggested list of things you should bring to best enjoy the lessons. Arapahoe Basin instructors will also be available after the lesson to discuss your child’s progress and suggestions for your next trip to ski country. It is also recommended that you arrive early to make sure you have enough time to check-in, get equipment, eat, use restrooms, etc.
The traditional full day or half day lessons are great for introducing kids to the slopes. Arapahoe Basin can help them learn to love the snow with a full-day, or half-day morning or afternoon lesson. Arapahoe Basin has dedicated and caring kids’ instructors that will create a memorable adventure to hook kids on the sport for a lifetime.
Arapahoe Basin also has multi-week sessions to really hone your child’s skills. The students meet with the same instructor for 4 or 8 weeks and the classes are formed based on age and ability. The sessions take place on Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and only include the lessons (they do not include rentals, equipment or lunch), but if you are investing in multiple lessons, it may be beneficial to buy the equipment and season passes. The sessions take place in January and February.
Arapahoe Basin offers sessions to familiarize teens with the terrain park. The XTreme Teen Saturdays program takes place on Sundays throughout January and February and is similar to the multi-week session above. Expert instructors tutor the children to develop their skills. Classes focus on exploring steeps, chutes, trees, bumps, powder, and the terrain park. Groups are matched by similar abilities with the same instructor each day. Includes lunch!
Arapahoe Basin also has a program called Li’l Kids Club Saturdays for skiers aged 3-5 years. The Li’l Kids Club Saturdays program is a three week-long program and is designed just for 3-5 year-old aspiring skiers. Sign up for all three days or just choose one or two. Mom’s, the best thing is that you can ski, too!
Either way, Arapahoe Basin has some great programs for kids and parents wanting to learn to better hit the slopes; reserve early in order to get a spot.
