What To Expect When You Stay With SummitCove Lodging In Keystone

You may have questions or be worried about the experience you will have staying with SummitCove Lodging in Keystone. Here you can find a testimonial on what you can expect when you stay with SummitCove. Summit County has some of the best hiking I have ever experienced with the beautiful Rocky Mountain landscape. Keystone has a lot of different activities for the outdoor enthusiast to enjoy. After a fulfilling day of hiking the Peru Creek Trail in Keystone, I wanted to find a lodging option that had a hot tub to soak my muscles! SummitCove helped me find a great deal last minute.

For my stay, I booked a 1 bedroom condo in Lakeside Village. A little information about the lodging Montezuma #1750 is a quiet, spacious condo with a wood-burning fireplace, lots of natural light from the ample windows, and spectacular views from slopeside to lakeside. The kitchen is well equipped with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and everything you need to make preparing meals a breeze for you on your vacation. The dining table that seats four comfortably is perfect for meals or playing games at the end of the day. Enjoy relaxing in the spacious living room with lots of ambiance. The rock fireplace creates such a cozy setting, you might just fall asleep while watching the flat screen TV. The sofa pulls out into a queen bed for extra sleeping capacity. Sleep like a king in this luxurious king size bed. Enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony with direct views of the mountains.

The check-in process at SummitCove: As soon as I chose my lodging option and booked my room in Lakeside Village I received an email confirmation with detailed instructions on where the check-in office was located, directions to my condo, my vacation dates, and other pertinent information. I was made aware of when my room was ready for me conveniently through a text message. Having a friendly face to welcome me to SummitCove started my night off pleasantly. The front desk staff was very knowledgable of the area to help direct me to my condo.

SummitCove has a staff member on duty 24/7 for your needs and assistance. Locked your keys inside your room? No problem! A staff member will be on route to let you back in ASAP. Upon my arrival to my room, I found a squeaky clean condo that was supplied with the basic necessities one needs on vacation including kitchen and bath supplies.

While staying in the Montezuma condo, I indulged in all the amenities the property had to offer including a cozy fireplace, plush king bed, humidifier, common area pool and hot tub. SummitCove supplies fire starter packs which made it convenient for me to start my own fire. I cuddled up to the toasty fire and dozed on and off to an audio book. I made my way to the bedroom and peacefully fell asleep in the roomy bed. The blinds in the bedroom made it very relaxing to sleep in the next morning.

After my amazing night in the condo, SummitCove made my check-out process as easy as check-in. All I had to do was bring my keys to the front desk and drop them off. Needless to say, I can’t wait to stay with SummitCove in Keystone again soon!

Talking Tech and the Snowboard Industry With Burton and Rome

In the Colorado high country the lovely gold and red leaves are starting to drop.  This may be the only part of the world where we don’t wish summer would last just a little bit longer.  Instead, we start counting the down the days to the very first chair up for the first tracks of riding and skiing.  To make the wait less painful, we think about the new gear that will allow us to achieve our best days on the powder.  Chris Cunningham and Jeff Boliba of Burton and Matt Stillman of Rome offer some insight regarding the year’s trends and technology.

The buzzwords continue to be “flex” and “shape.”  Matt Stillman reports that Rome is excited about their brand new binding, the Katna.  “The Katna is designed as an all mountain assassin with a focus on customization and flex with feel.” This binding is ultralight and super responsive, so it is an excellent choice for casual riders and the most experienced boarders.

Burton reports that riders seem to be looking for more precision and agility in their ride, versus the “playful looseness” of the past few years.  In response, they have created the Pure Pop Camber, “It blends subtle rocker elements for a little playfulness, flat sections for increased snap, and traditional camber for precision and response.“ In addition, Burton is leading the industry with sustainability. Every men’s and women’s snowboard produced by Burton includes “The Channel.” The Channel gives you ultimate control of your stance and your board in a design compatible with all major bindings (not just Burton’s). The Channel gives riders limitless options for stance width, angles, and toe and heel adjustment and with half as many screws and it’s twice as fast to mount.“

Burton’s Malavita Bindings.

The Green Mountain Process, introduced in 2008, pays attention to every step of the manufacturing process, “featuring FSC certified wood cores, Mountain Dew 100% recycled PET top sheets, and low-impact water-based lacquer. All Family Tree models will come in a fully recyclable and compostable bag.” It seems Burton is truly listening to the generation that demands more from businesses and manufactures in terms of truly caring and protecting the environment.

In addition to a conversation about technology, we discussed the perception that snowboarding has lost the attitude and following it had in the 90’s. According to Boliba, the very youngest riders are enthusiastic about snowboarding.  “We have some really positive numbers and have plenty of reasons to be optimistic. In the past year alone, Burton’s Riglet Park Program events have introduced over 10,000 kids under seven years old to snowboarding in 14 different countries. This number is increasing every day. Since 2011, Burton has opened 38 full-time Riglet Parks. The Burton Riglet Park Program has seen exponential growth over the past three years, and is helping pave the way for resorts’ success with young kids (ages 3 to 6) who want to stand sideways from the start. And since 1998, Burton has produced a full line of gear and partnered with resorts and shops to grow the sport. We haven’t done it alone, as there are over 185 Burton Partner Learn To Ride Center Resorts worldwide that are part of this community and are dedicated to providing a quality first experience to help grow snowboarding through a variety of products and programs. We also did a Kids Riglet survey this year and 22% of kids have learned to ride at a Riglet program and 27% of kids are ages 5-6 years old. 76% of parents are planning to take their child snowboarding again in the next 12 months.”  In addition, Burton has noted an increase in the number of women who are new to snowboarding.  They have responded by a Learn to Ride site with a section for women riders. Most exciting is their dedication to make snowboarding a broader experience.  They have taken it from the mountain to the classroom with the Riglet Snowboarding for Physical Education.  The PE program simulates many of the skills and “focuses on balance, endurance and of course, having some fun along the way. The unique curriculum allows PE teachers and kids alike to experience snowboarding in their own class gym with learning stations and instructional videos featuring Kelly Clark, Danny Davis and Ben Ferguson for the first time.”

It sounds to us that Burton is investing long term in its future client.  What better way to develop a loyal customers than providing them with the tools and motivation to grow up to be the best snowboarders in the country!

Girls’ Weekend in Keystone Colorado

It seems that since the beginning of time, men have engaged in male bonding trips, such as hunting and sports events in other cities. Recently, women have also started planning time away from the family and responsibilities that last anywhere from a weekend to an extended vacation.

Forget the romantic vacation in Keystone! Go for having lot of fun with your best pals! Keystone, Colorado is a perfect destination for a girls’ weekend because of the variety of activities offered and seasonal opportunities. One group has been to Keystone Colorado ten years in a row and has never had the same agenda twice!

Keystone Girls Weekend
Keystone Girls Weekend

Initially, this group of single, twenty-something’s, had the freedom to plan a trip on a moment’s notice and loved the challenge of skiing and snowboarding hard all day and staying out until Keystone had served the last round of drinks. Kara, one of the original group members, reports that the size of the group often fluctuates depending on what is going on in each of the women’s lives, and the women included influence the activities chosen. For the past 4 years, at least one woman in the group has been pregnant. Since pregnancy and moguls don’t mix well, the group has been creative in planning their trips.

A little known secret about Keystone Colorado is that during the mud season, the resort is all but abandoned and becomes the perfect setting for indulging in spa treatments, great dining and more than a little rest and relaxation. Coupons can be found in the local newspaper, Summit Daily News, for 2 for 1 dining at many establishments throughout the county. In addition, the spas often have vacancies that are unheard of during ski season.

Many women use their time away from the family to feel that they have accomplished something. Laura, a dedicated scrap booker, organizes “crop weekends.” It’s perfect because prices are low for lodging from April through June, so we always book out a condo with table space and sleeping for at least eight. If all eight of us can make it, great, if not, there is more space per person to spread out our photo albums and create the perfect pages.

For others, who are looking to accomplish something more physically challenging, summer time is perfect in Keystone. Marsha, an avid biker reports that her group stays in the River Run area, but bikes around Lake Dillon, through Frisco and up some of the most technical trails in the Breckenridge area and then back to Keystone Resort. “It sure makes me feel that I have worked hard enough to deserve a decadent dinner and a dip in the hot-tub when we get back.”

The most popular thing for most girls getaway weekends is to visit the spas in Keystone Colorado. The Keystone lodge and spa was just recently remodeled and offers some soothing atmosphere and great service. Don’t forget the Aveda spa, Serenity Salon in the Gateway building too!

Gather a group of your favorite girl friends and plan a well deserved break. Admittedly, there might be a little guilt about leaving your children and husband, but the benefits include the special bonding time that your husband the kids might not have otherwise. In addition, you get to miss them a little and appreciate them that much more when you return!

The Bottle Shop in SummitCove Hosts ‘Third Thursdays’ with Free Wine Tastings

The Bottle Shop is a new boutique wine, beer and spirits store that opened earlier this year in the SummitCove neighborhood near Keystone Resort. The owners, Ben and Janesse Brown, have a chalkboard set up in the store so customers can make recommendations for wine or beer brands they’d like to see and they also offer a ‘make your own six-pack,’ so folks can take home a mix of their favorite brews. There is a big emphasis on local and Colorado brands across the whole spectrum of inventory. Brown says the prices are good: because the shop is located in unincorporated Summit County, it isn’t affected by additional town or resort taxes. The shop is mostly a wine and beer store; only 20 percent of the floor space is dedicated to liquor. It has nearly 200 wines to choose from — which the Browns picked out after consulting with a sommelier — and room for another 100 after community input starts rolling in.

The Bottle Shop proudly hosts ‘3rd Thursdays’ each month, in which visitors can sample wines, beers, and spirits from 4-7pm on the third Thursday of each month. The Bottle Shop partners with other community businesses to bring the properly paired garnish with your wine (think cheese, bread, and chocolate!). Third Thursdays will feature a local “somel-yeahs!” – community members sharing their “expert” views on the featured wine – either a new favorite or old friend.  It is a terrific time to gather as a community for some sublime wine and good company! The next Third Thursday will take place on August 16, 2012. If you are looking for a property nearby, check out the West Keystone area, which is just a little over a mile from The Bottle Shop.  Soda Springs 1917 or Pines 2136 are both available for rental in August- rent a bike and ride to the wine tasting!
