Looking for child friendly activities while in Keystone? Look no further than the “old jail” in the River Run neighborhood. Filled with slides, stairs and other climbable areas, this structure will keep your kids busy for hours. Don’t forget to take the mandatory picture of them as the “jail bird.” After they are all done climbing and sliding, take a peak behind the structure. Low and behold, the Snake River winds it’s way through River Run. We watched boys talking about the islands, volcano’s, traps, 10 pound fish and all things imaginary. What a great time their parent’s had watching all of the action while planning for the next day’s adventures!

Start the weekend off on Sat with a visit to River Run. Kidsfest will be taking place and the kiddos eyes will light up when they see all of the activities just for them. Pet a friendly farm animal at the petting zoo, chug along the main drag in a train, get a spider on your face at the face painting station, meet a true artist who happens to work with balloons, play some mind boggling midway games, and jump to your heart’s content at the bounce houses!
July 4th in Keystone is a fabulous way to celebrate our nation’s independence! The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. The kids get to decorate their bikes with all the red, white and blue flair they can come up with. They can paint their faces and hair if they truly have the spirit and the riding begins at 10:00. We have spent several years at the bike parade and each year the community seems to outdo it self. Be careful, these kids mean business as they tool around on trikes, bikes and unicycles!
After the bike parade, head back to your superb SummitCove condo and let the kids nap because the evenings events will truly be a “blast”! The Edgewater Cafe will be serving up an old fashioned BBQ with live music and then it’s time to stake out your spot on the lake for a round of amazing fireworks. Stay until the very end if you can because the grand finale is spectacular.
We would like to thank all of our amazing team members and the people who donated to Team SummitCove! We spent a total of 9 hours and 7 minutes on our bikes, riding from Westminster, CO to Ft. Collins, CO in order to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. We raised over $6000 dollars! Not to bad for a small team on their first fund raising mission. The weather was perfect, the route was beautiful and the beer was cold at the finish line. We are looking forward to doing it again next year and are already dreaming up a design for our jerseys in 2011. If you own a road bike, think about joining us! Our owner has promised to provide a massage therapist if we can get 30 riders next year. Free massages, free jerseys and free beer. That’s a deal!
Caller: You have to help me. SC: Of course, what can I do for you? Caller: I brought my bike because my boyfriend is into this outdoor stuff, but I can tell peddling up hill isn’t going to work. Is there a shuttle that can take me up and then I can ride down? SC: Yes, I will get that info now. Caller: I also need the name of a good massage therapist. I need to have something to look forward to.
Caller: Hello, I want to come to Colorado to do whitewater rafting. SC: Great! We have a package for rafting and lodging. Caller: Well, I’m a little bit uncertain. Is the water cold? SC: I just did trip last week and it was cold, but you can get a wetsuit and jacket if you are worried. Caller: Well, we usually go to Mexico. Do you think the water is colder than in Mexico? I really like getting a tan and having a drink but thought we should try something new. Are there some rivers with a hot springs at the end?
Welcome to our new Guest of the Day humor. For several months our Facebook Fans have told us they love our guest of the day column and have asked for more. For the SummitCove staff, it’s the best therapy! We get to share our day to day fun with the world. Details are often changed, of course, to protect the “not so innocent.” If you enjoy these anecdotes, invite your friends to become fans.
6/5/10 – Guest of the Day –
Caller: Hello, I am looking to host a wedding in Keystone and I have some specific requests.
SC: We have over 200 properties, so I am sure we can help you.
Caller: As the bride’s mother, I need a large condo with a great view and a hot tub. I don’t want stairs, and it has to have a washer and dryer.
SC: I have the perfect unit.
Caller: Great. Now, I want you to make sure the bride’s stepmother has no view, no hot tub, and an uncomfortable bed. Can you also put her in a pet friendly unit. She has allergies and won’t look great after pet exposure.
