Keystone Colorado Vacation FAQ
We are looking forward to you coming to Keystone. Please read the following frequent questions we receive from guests prior to arrival.
Q: Can I check-in early?
A: We guarantee a 4pm check-in time. Although unlikely, we will send you an automated text message if the property is ready prior to 4pm. During holiday weekends and peak ski season, it is very difficult to have properties ready prior to 4pm. We do sometimes have options for guaranteed paid early check-in, depending on your property availability, call us to inquire.
Q: Can I have a late check-out?
A: Check-out time is 10am. Although we do our best to try and accommodate late checkout requests, we can’t always allow for them due to our cleaning schedules. We sometimes have options available for a late 8pm departure for an extra fee and some last minute deals on adding an extra night. Please call us the day before you depart to inquire.
Q: How do I get discount lift tickets at Keystone?
A: The best value is always a season pass (there are many options such as a Keystone Plus Pass, Epic Local Pass, Summit Value Pass or Full Epic Pass) or a 4-pack. These season passes can only be purchased up to a certain date into ski season, so plan ahead. If you are purchasing daily lift tickets, your best bet is to buy them online at least 7 days in advance. Always know that buying online in advance will be less expensive than purchasing same day at the ticket window.
Q:Where should I rent my ski and snowboard equipment?
A: We recommend Mountain View Sports in Keystone. If you are coming during a holiday weekend or Spring Break, it is very important to make reservations prior to your arrival (although we always recommend making reservations any time of the season). They offer our guests discounted rates and have a coupon in the Keystone to Keystone Coupon Book.
Another option is Ski Butlers. They will actually bring all of your gear to your condo and get you fitted there, without having to wait in line at the rental shop. They also offer our guests a 20% discount through the Key to Keystone coupon book.
Norski Sports is another partner of ours with rentals located in the main Keystone Village, River Run. You can also find a nice guest discount offer in the Key to Keystone book.
Q: Can I bring pets?
A: You can only bring a pet to one of our pet-friendly properties in Keystone. Most HOA’s in Keystone do not allow pets, but we do have a few properties that are pet-friendly with advanced registration and nightly pet fee. There is a $250 minimum fine assessed for pets in a property that doesn’t allow pets.
Q: What is the best way to get to Keystone from the Denver International Airport?
A: We recommend renting a car or booking an airport shuttle with one of our preferred partners. Although the shuttle is convenient, it tends to be more costly, depending on the number of people. Keystone does not have a major grocery store, so it is nice to have a car to get to Dillon for groceries. The airport is 98 miles from Keystone and it takes approximately two hours to make the trip, depending on traffic and road conditions. Fresh Tracks Transportation and Summit Express offers our guests a discount coupon for shuttle rides in Key to Keystone Coupon Book. Check C-DOT for current travel times and road conditions. You'll also want to consider parking and how many vehicles you have.
Q: Will I have to pay to park at keystone resort?
A: Keystone is one of the few resorts that still offer free daytime skier parking. Each condo includes space for at least one vehicle, some private homes and townhomes offer additional parking. The River Run Gondola Lot (formerly Montezuma Skier Parking lot) is free for day parking and offers a close parking option for the slopes if you arrive early enough. There are also some smaller paid lots if you want to be very close to the gondola. Most properties are also located on the free shuttle route which is even easier than parking! There are also plenty of options for paid overnight parking for additional vehicles.
Q: Is daily cleaning service included?
A: We do not provide daily cleaning service. Your cleaning fee covers fresh linens for your arrival, a starter supply of amenities such as paper towels, bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, dish soap and toilet paper. Linens and towels are not replaced during your stay, but if you need additional, you may purchase them from the SummitCove office or arrange for a mid-week clean for an extra fee. Your property will be professionally cleaned prior to your arrival and upon departure. We do ask that you start the dishwasher prior to your departure and remove all trash and recycling to the dumpsters.
Q: What is a starter supply of amenities?
A: We provide enough disposable items for your first day at the property, for example: a sample size of dishwashing soap, one bag of local coffee, one travel sized bottle of shampoo/conditioner for each bathroom, a roll of paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, sponge, etc.. If you have a large group, or will be staying several days, you will want to bring larger sizes with you.
Q: Do I need to bring my own pots and pans?
A: No. Each property is stocked with kitchen supplies including pots, pans, dishes, glasses and silverware.
Q: Where can I buy groceries and supplies?
A: There is a City Market in Silverthorne, on your way into Keystone. It is about 7 miles west of our office on Hwy 6, just off of the I-70 exit. There is also a Target about a mile further West. There are also a few small stores in Keystone, including the Rockin’ R’ Ranch located in the heart of River Run Village, they also have beer and spirits.
Q: How do I use the FREE shuttle in and around Summit County?
A: The Summit Stage shuttle is free and goes to nearby towns such as Dillon, Frisco, Copper, and Breckenridge. Keystone Resort also has a complimentary Resort Shuttle that goes to most areas and condos within the resort that operates from early morning until late evening, sometimes as late as midnight. Call (970) 496-4200 for more information regarding the Keystone Resort Shuttle.
Q: Should I purchase trip insurance?
A: We highly recommend trip insurance. Because all of our properties are owned by individuals and you are able to reserve specific properties, we stick to the above cancellation policy. Trip insurance provides you with protection against the unforeseeable; including weather delays, road closures, illnesses, death in family, etc. Travel in the mountains in winter can often involve road closures and delays, so trip insurance is a great thing to add on for extra peace of mind during your Keystone vacation.
Q: What if I need a baby crib, high chair or cot?
A: Are any of your kids under the age of 5? Babys Away is an easy and convenient option for families traveling with small children. You book; they deliver and when you’re ready to depart, simply leave your items and they will come pick them up. Don’t worry about lugging baby and toddler gear. They also have full size cots available. You can be assured your equipment will be ready when you arrive! Enter SummitCove as your Keystone lodging provider at check-out to receive 10% off your gear!
Q: How do I have something mailed while staying with SummitCove Lodging?
A: Receiving packages in Keystone for your upcoming trip is not possible due to the majority of vacation properties having undeliverable addresses. There are a few shipping stores in Dillon that you can contact including Just Send It, Summit Pack & Ship and FedEx.
Q: What if I don’t ski or snowboard?
A: Although Keystone is most well-known for its world class skiing and riding, there are tons of other things to do. In the winter, enjoy activities like snowshoeing, nordic skiing, ice skating, sleigh rides, fireworks, Kidtopia activities and more. In the summer try horseback riding, stand-up paddle boarding, fishing, hiking or biking or attend one of the popular summer festivals. Fine dining, shopping, spas, brewery tours and gondola rides are all popular things to check out during any time of the year.
