Keystone Summer 'Funtivities'

April showers might bring May flowers somewhere, but in my memory April showers always brought May 'I-am-almost-out-of-school' jitters. The sunshine beckons kids out of their school seats and onto bicycle seats. And as the days get longer and the sunshine gets warmer, we are looking forward to the coming season like school children ourselves!

As you ponder your summer plans and weekend ventures, we will share some of our favorite activities around Keystone so you won't miss a thing.

Keystone Science School Enroll the kids in a number of different, fun learning camps at the Keystone Science School.  Every kid should get to go to camp and whether its a day camp, discovery camp, or a leadership program, there really is something for everyone. Check out the programs and register here.

Hiking Keystone has a myriad of trails fit for exploration and adventure. Not only can you take the Gondola to the top of Keystone for fast access to scenic trails and views, but you can take a guided hike to learn about the natural and local history of Keystone. Or, check out one of the hundreds of trails in Keystone and surrounding areas of Summit County!

Biking Whether you want to speed down some singletrack or meander along the bike path, Keystone has it all. On June 12, Keystone will open their lifts again to take you and your downhill bike to enjoy up to 100 miles of singletrack mountain biking and its renowned bike park. For those of you who wish for an easy family bike ride, the bike path wanders from River Run Village to Lakeside Village to Keystone Golf Course to Lake Dillon. This bike path is a great way to enjoy the scenery beyond the villages!

Horseback Riding and Wagon Rides Horses aren't just for sleigh rides on snowy winter nights, but also for enjoying the trails and scenery during the summer! Check out the Keystone stables for an adventure this summer! Keystone also hosts Wild West Nights throughout the summer; nights where you can enjoy a free bike-in movie, brats, beverages and campfire s'mores while you can try out a game of horseshoes... don't forget your cowboy boots!

Golf Keystone Resort boasts two golf courses: The River Course and Keystone Ranch. Golf your way through beautiful scenery and mountain vistas. With 18 holes at each golf course and out of this world views, Keystone will keep you occupied during your vacation.  There are also numerous free clinics and fun tournaments to join throughout the season to work on your game and have fun.

Keystone Summer Festivals With  at least one fun summer festival happening every month of the summer, you won't want to miss attending at least one.  Pick your passion, whether its bacon, beer, wine, music, peaches, running and more and attend the Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour, Keystone Wine and Jazz Festival, the Bluegrass and Beer Festival, Mountain Town Music Festival or Oktoberfest with the Das Bier Burner 5K!  All of the festivals are family friendly and free to attend, with options to buy tasting tickets and passes to enjoy the food and drinks. Check out our summer festival packages here.

Water Fun Lakeside Village hosts a plethora of fun activities during the summer. Attempting stand up paddle-boarding for the first time? Keystone Lake is small and will be a great way to start paddle-boarding or perfect that technique, plus at $15 its an easy way to test the waters. Paddle boats are also a great way to check out the scenery from the lake. Not interested in watersports? Grab some fish feed and keep them busy or signup for a free fly fishing class!

With so much to do, you may have to stay a few days! Check out our rates and availability and book your Keystone summer vacation today!
