Registration Rates for the Das Bier Burner 5K Go Up on August 16

The is the only race that rewards you with a brat and a beer afterwards, it’s the Das Bier Burner 5K in Keystone, Colorado! This fun and family-friendly event supports local charity, SOS Outreach who works with at-risk youth to improve their lives and skills through adventure programming, such as skiing and hiking! The Das Bier Burner 5K 2018 is in its 5th year and is fun for everyone involved. Dress up in your favorite lederhosen or dirndl, Yeti costume or as a beer stein – whatever it is, make it good because you will want to win the Freshies Drink Gift Baskets offered up at the audience-judged costume contest!

 

The race starts and finishes at the entrance to River Run Village in the heart of Keystone Resort.  Runners head east on the Keystone bike path towards Settler’s Creek and back through the Alders neighborhood.  The course crosses the bubbling Snake River multiple times and eventually heads back past the River Run Gondola and straight into the village where the crowds will be cheering you on!  Cross the finish line and then shortly after, head into Oktoberfest to claim your free brat and beer! All registered runners receive a commemorative event t-shirt and goody bag filled with schwag!  You’ll also have tickets for a free brat and beer (if you are over 21) at Keystone Oktoberfest!

Keystone Oktoberfest runs from 1 – 6 pm in River Run.  The event is free to attend with German fare and drinks available for purchase.  You can also pickup an Oktoberfest commemorative beer stein that includes 3 drink coupons for just $35.  The afternoon will feature live music from festival favorite, ‘Those Austrian Guys’ and live performances from the Edelweiss Schuhplattlers dancers.  Kids can dance and have their faces painted.  There will be other kids activities all day long.

Spend Labor Day Weekend in Keystone

Labor Day Weekend in Keystone is jam packed with fun activities to enjoy with your friends or family. Book a condo and head out for a fun weekend in the mountains!

 

Head up to Keystone on Friday and take advantage of free scenic gondola rides and the Friday Afternoon Club.  Relax with a beer on an adirondack chair as you take in the spectacular 360 views and listen to the band play.  Challenge your friends to a game of cornhole or ladder golf or even head on an easy hike around the top of the mountain.  Friday evening enjoy a horse carriage ride out to the Soda Creek Homestead for ‘Brats, Belgians and Brews’ dinner, complete with a cowboy entertainer and campfire!

 

On Saturday, kick off the day with the Das Bier Burner 5K fun run starting at noon.  This event is one of Colorado’s favorite 5K’s – a great value and a ton of fun.  Every runner gets a commemorative event t-shirt and goody bag with their registration, as well as a complimentary brat and beer (for those 21+) after the race at Keystone Oktoberfest! The race starts and finishes at the entrance of River Run Village.  The course mostly follows the Keystone bike path, circling out to East Keystone along Montezuma Road, through Settler’s Creek and The Adlers, around Red Hawk Townhomes, past the Snake River and on the outskirts of the village.  The final yards push through the heart of the village as onlookers cheer you on with cowbells! After the race, head right into Keystone Oktoberfest in the River Run Plaza from 1 – 6 pm. Enjoy plenty of Oktoberfest Beers and German themed- cuisines as you participate in polka dancing and PROST-ing all afternoon long!  Live music starts with the Summit Concert Band and then rolls into Those Austrian Guys as the highlight of the day! This is a family-friendly event and there will be plenty of kids activities available as well, such as face painting and a bounce castle! Finally on Sunday, top off the weekend at A Taste of Keystone.  This foodie event happens around the lake in Lakeside Village, offering food samples from some of Keystone’s best chefs and restaurants.  Tasting tickets are just a dollar each, so each lunch in the form of tastings! Live music will be on site along with paddle board rentals if you want to get out on the water. Stroll around the lake and take in the great views as you fill up  your belly on great food!

Foodies Find the Best Eats at Keystone Culinary Festival Tomorrow

Piggybacking off of the popular ‘Taste of Colorado’ Festival in Denver, The Taste of Keystone has become a well-known and long standing tradition in Keystone and is sure to impress any ‘foodie’.  This year the event is in it’s 24th year and is taking place tomorrow, September 2nd in Keystone’s Lakeside Village. The Labor Day Weekend event features live music and amazing food tastings from some of the best restaurants in the country, all based right here in Keystone Resort Colorado. Participating food vendors include Bighorn Steakhouse, Alpenglow Stube, Black Bear Grill, Ski Tip Lodge, Keystone Ranch, Keystone Summit House, pastry chef Ned Archibald, Edgewater Café, Pizza on the Plaza, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Keystone Adventure Center, and Dos Locos.  You can expect a nice variety of scrumptious tastings all afternoon at the event.  Tickets are just a dollar each and the dishes typically range from just two to five tickets.  Examples of the cuisine include the Ski Tip’s char-grilled tiger shrimp with avocado, Olathe corn salsa, cherry tomato and crème fraiche. There’s no better way to grab a taste of the good life!

There will also be a silent auction going on throughout the day, concluding at 2:30 p.m. with the winners announced at 3pm. Proceeds from the auction go to help support Summit County’s Mountain Mentors Program (www.summitcares.org).  Tastings and live music, featuring the ever-popular WhiteWater Ramble, begin at 11 a.m on Sunday and run until 3pm. The event is billed as zero waste, meaning all plates, cups and utensils are biodegradable and recycling containers will be available throughout the venue.

This is the final Friday of the summer season for FREE gondola rides from 3pm – sunset Enjoy live music while taking in the majestic scenery from the deck of the Summit House and chow down on some delicious BBQ.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase from our outdoor grill and BBQ.  Arnie J. Moments in Time-An Evening With Jon Paul

At 7:00pm, The Dercum Center for the Arts and Humanities presents this evening of live music and the photography of Jon Paul at Warren Station in River Run Village.  This is a ticketed event.  Cost is $15 per adult, $10 per student, and FREE for photography workshop participants.

The Annual Great Rubber Duck Races at Breckenridge Riverwalk Center

Watch as adopted ducks are dropped into the Blue River.  About 10,000 rubber ducks will float down the river to the Riverwalk Center.

Breck Crest Mountain Marathon

The Summit Foundation is the beneficiary of the Breck Crest Mountain Marathon.  Comprised of 5 mile, Half Marathon and Marathon trail runs, the races are scheduled annually the Sunday of Labor Day weekend in conjunction with The Summit Foundation’s Annual Rubber Duck Races. $5 from each race entry is donated to The Summit Foundation.
