‘Mud Season’ is what the locals refer to as the slower off-season in Summit County, after the summer rush is gone, but before the winter guests start arriving. There aren’t many visitors during this time and some businesses actually close their doors for anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks, offering a break before the season; to clean, go on vacation, or just get away before the season ramps up. Other restaurants and businesses stay open year-round and typically serve up big deals for those who stick around during the mud season.
Tonight is locals night at the Bighorn Steakhouse, located in the Keystone Lodge and Spa in Lakeside Village. For those who have never been to the Bighorn Steakhouse, this is a great time to go check it out! The restaurant features great views of Keystone Lake and the towering mountains of the Continental Divide. Delicious menu selections change often and typically feature a vegetable of the day. Entrees may include dishes such as fish, chicken, scallops, vegetarian/vegan options, and of course steak! Tonight their certified Angus Beef Filet Mignon is on special for $18. If you aren’t feeling like steak, you can take 25% off all other entrees.
