Registration Rates for the Das Bier Burner 5K Go Up on August 16

The is the only race that rewards you with a brat and a beer afterwards, it’s the Das Bier Burner 5K in Keystone, Colorado! This fun and family-friendly event supports local charity, SOS Outreach who works with at-risk youth to improve their lives and skills through adventure programming, such as skiing and hiking! The Das Bier Burner 5K 2018 is in its 5th year and is fun for everyone involved. Dress up in your favorite lederhosen or dirndl, Yeti costume or as a beer stein – whatever it is, make it good because you will want to win the Freshies Drink Gift Baskets offered up at the audience-judged costume contest!

 

The race starts and finishes at the entrance to River Run Village in the heart of Keystone Resort.  Runners head east on the Keystone bike path towards Settler’s Creek and back through the Alders neighborhood.  The course crosses the bubbling Snake River multiple times and eventually heads back past the River Run Gondola and straight into the village where the crowds will be cheering you on!  Cross the finish line and then shortly after, head into Oktoberfest to claim your free brat and beer! All registered runners receive a commemorative event t-shirt and goody bag filled with schwag!  You’ll also have tickets for a free brat and beer (if you are over 21) at Keystone Oktoberfest!

Keystone Oktoberfest runs from 1 – 6 pm in River Run.  The event is free to attend with German fare and drinks available for purchase.  You can also pickup an Oktoberfest commemorative beer stein that includes 3 drink coupons for just $35.  The afternoon will feature live music from festival favorite, ‘Those Austrian Guys’ and live performances from the Edelweiss Schuhplattlers dancers.  Kids can dance and have their faces painted.  There will be other kids activities all day long.

The Das Bier Burner 5K & Keystone Oktoberfest Today in Keystone

Looking for something to do today? Head to Keystone today to watch or run in the Das Bier Burner 5K, followed by Keystone Oktoberfest.

 

Same-day registration for the race will be going on in River Run Village this morning from 8:15 am until 11:15 am, with the race starting at noon.  Your entry will get you an event t-shirt, goody bag filled with all sorts of fun schwag as well as a complimentary brat and beer after the race.  A portion of the proceeds of this event supports the SOS Outreach of Summit County.  The course is fairly flat and follows the paved Keystone bike path for most of the route, heading towards East Keystone, through Settler’s Creek and back towards the village along the Snake River.  The atmosphere is FUN and all ages and abilities are welcome! Enjoy checking out the great costumes and vote for your favorite to win the best costume prize! Prizes include Freshies Gourmet Cocktail Drink Baskets, free stay vouchers with SummitCove Lodging, beer- themed items such as event beer steins and more!

Not planning on running?  Head to the village anyways and grab a cowbell to cheer on the runners starting around 12:15.  At 1pm, Keystone Oktoberfest kicks off in the village with Oktoberfest beer tasting, food vendors and live music from the local favorite Those Austrian Guys and polka dancing!  There will also be plenty of kids activities taking place and this event is free to attend, with the option to purchase food and drink.

Free Brat and Beer at the 4th Annual Das Bier Burner 5K Fun Run in Keystone

Summer is well underway and Fall will be here before you know it, with kids back to school, cooler temperatures and of course, Oktoberfest celebrations. Send off summer right with one last mountain getaway in Keystone over Labor Day weekend.

The 4th annual Das Bier Burner 5K is scheduled for Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Keystone.  This fun ‘beer’ run features a smooth course over rolling hills, mostly on a paved bike path, starting and finishing in Keystone’s River Run Village.

 

Runners will enjoy the serene setting and great mountain views throughout the race!  All ages are welcome and this event is family-friendly; you can even push a stroller if you want to run with your little ones! Every runner receives a reusable goody bag and t-shirt at check-in, as well as a free brat and a beer (for those over 21+) after the race!  Come up early on Friday night to get a good night’s rest and check-in early from 1 – 8 pm at the SummitCove check-in office. All registered runners receive 35% off weekend lodging with SummitCove.  If you can’t make it on Friday, get checked in for the race near the River Run Village entrance on Ida Belle drive from 8:45 – 11:30 am on Saturday morning. Same day registrations will be accepted unless the race has already sold out, but same-day t-shirts are not always a guarantee, so why not register now?

This event supports charity partner, the SOS Outreach. This non-profit organization works with underprivileged youth, ages 8 – 18, to promote growth, skills and personal development through outdoor sports programs such as skiing, mountain biking and climbing.  A portion of the proceeds of this event go directly to the Summit County SOS Outreach group. You will see some of their kids out on the course on race day cheering you on!

 

The race starts at 12pm with a mass start and heads out towards East Keystone down Montezuma road.  Soon the course heads south, up and around Settler’s Creek Townhomes and down near the Snake River. Runners will kick it into high gear as they pass by the gondola and head into the finish, lapping around River Run as they are cheered on by the SummitCove Yeti and other fans armed with lots of cowbells!

 

This event is nothing but fun for everyone involved! Costumes are highly encouraged, whether it’s your Yeti suit, lederhosen or dirndls! A ‘Best Costume’ prize will be awarded during the prize ceremony.  Whether you enjoy a leisurely jog, fast-paced walk or are obsessed with coming in the top 10, this race is for you. If you are one of those hoping to cross the finish line first, you are in for some great prizes! Prizes change from year to year, but past year’s prizes have included custom event beer steins, Freshie’s gift baskets, zip lining tours, free lodging in Keystone, sports equipment, snowmobiling, beer socks and more!

Keystone Oktoberfest kicks off directly after the race at 1pm, which is where you can enjoy your complimentary brat from New Moon Cafe and New Belgium beer. The ‘Summit Concert Band’ kicks things off at 1pm and then local Oktoberfest favorite, ‘Those Austrian Guys’ start 2pm and play all afternoon until the last ‘Prost’ at 6pm. There will be lots of fun kid’s activities happening including free face painters, a bounce house and the Edelweiss Schuhplattlers, Polka Dancers, who will encourage everyone to dance! You’ll also find some great deals at the River Run Merchant tent sale as they clear out the summer inventory and get ready for winter.  German themed food and beer will be served all afternoon.  Commemorative Keystone Oktoberfest mugs are available for purchase in advance for $35 with 3 refills.

3rd Annual Das Bier Burner at Keystone Oktoberfest on Labor Day Weekend

If you are looking for a fun way to spend your 3-day Labor Day weekend with your family, why not head to Keystone Resort? On Saturday, September 3, Keystone’s River Run Village turns on the German flare hosting one of Colorado’s best Oktoberfest celebrations along with the Das Bier Burner 5K! Sunday features A Taste of Keystone and then enjoy some down time for activities and relaxing in between!

 

The weekend kicks off with the 3rd Annual Das Bier Burner 5K family fun run on Saturday, September 3.  Runners of all ages gear up in their best Oktoberfest costumes and line up at the entrance of River Run Village on Ida Belle Drive.  When the air horn blows, the fun begins as runners start off on their 3.1 mile journey, which runs mostly along the paved Keystone bike path. Some people choose to walk or push a stroller.  They head down Montezuma road, up and around the Settler’s Creek complex, through the new Alders Townhomes and next to the Snake River.  The race loops back into River Run, passing by Black Bear Lodge, Dakota and Expedition Station, finally finishing through the heart of River Run. The SummitCove Yeti and everyone in the village cheers the runners on at the big finish.  Next comes the best costume awards and winners ceremony!  We have seen all sorts of crazy costumes, from lederhosen, yetis, beer girls and even a recently married bride and groom who took home the male and female best costume prizes by running in their wedding attire! Every runner receives an event T-shirt and goody bag as well as a brat from New Moon Cafe and a New Belgium Beer (21+) after the race at Keystone Oktoberfest!  Register for the Das Bier Burner 5K family fun run online by September 2 or you can also register in person from 8:45 – 11:15 am on Saturday the 3rd!  Proceeds from this event go to support SOS Outreach, who help at-risk youth  through mountain programs and mentoring, such as learning how to snowboard!

 

After the race, shower up in your River Run condo and then head back down to the village and raise your stein!  Colorado brewed Oktoberfest beers will be served up all afternoon, along with some amazing German themed foods such as bratwursts, Bavarian pretzels, schnitzels and more!  Live music from the Summit Concert Band and Those Austrian Guys will be going on all afternoon, along with live performances from the Edelweiss Polka Dancers! Kids and adults will have a blast joining in the fun.

 

On Sunday, head over to Lakeside Village for a Taste of Keystone where you can sample cuisine from many of Keystone’s finest chefs and restaurants.  The kids will have fun feeding the oversized fish and ducks and playing on the sand beach.  Rent stand-up paddle boards or a paddle boat to get out on the water.
