There is something for everyone at Ready Paint Fire in Keystone!  It is a fun and creative way to bond with friends and family and to create a meaningful souvenir.  The selection of creative activities is amazing and affordable. You can pick from painting your own pottery, painting canvas, painting a wine glass, or making metal and leather jewelry. There are projects for all ages and everyone over 21 can get creative while drinking wine or beer!  If you do not think you are an artist you will be surprised. With the help of the fun and friendly staff and the written instructions, you will be more successful than you think. The biggest challenge is picking which activity to do and it is so fun you might have to visit the studio a few times and try a couple of different art projects.

Children as young as 2 or 3 years old can have a blast painting their favorite ceramic animal. Older kids have a lot of options to choose from as well.  Ready Paint Fire offers skulls, butterflies, unicorns, fish, dinosaurs, picture frames, keepsake boxes and everything you can imagine. For adults there are several kitchenware items, such as plates, mugs, vases, bowls, and pitchers. All the pieces are food safe and perfect to take home as a souvenir from your great trip in Keystone. They offer many different colors of paint and also have stamps, sponges and stencils to help add creativity to your piece.  The pottery pieces range in price from $10 – $80  with many pieces in the $10 – $25 range. Since most of us are on vacation, Ready Paint Fire will have your ceramic artwork kiln-fired overnight with a 48 hour pick up guarantee. They also offer shipping through UPS, which ranges from $15 – $25 if you don’t have room in your luggage.

Ready Paint Fire Painting at Ready Paint Fire Keystone

If you don’t think you can paint on canvas you are wrong!  With the easy instruction from the talented staff and the step-by-step written instruction you are going to be impressed with your painting skills!  There are several unique images to choose from; birds in flight, sailboats on oceans, mountain summer and winter scenes and of course the Colorado flag and the American flag.  There is an image to catch the eye of all artists (or in my case a want-to-be artist) no matter how novice or advanced. For kids, Ready Paint Fire offers pre-sketched canvas images.  Kids can pick their image and mix their paints and let their inner artist create a canvas to take home. Paint your own canvas is affordable at $25 and the canvas is 16” x 20”.

If you want a fun and quick art project with adults pick painting glassware. Ready Paint Fire offers wine glasses, martini glasses, beer mugs and vases. The prices vary but it is very affordable. These items are ready to take home the same day because it only takes a few hours to kiln fire them. Ready Paint Fire has stencils you can copy or you can create your own design on the glass with the many paints they provide. The paints are translucent and it looks like stained glasses after it is kiln fired. The paints are also non-toxic, dishwasher safe, and they will not wear off the glass. This activity is a lot of fun for men and women and why not drink a glass of wine or beer when you create your wine glass or beer mug?  Another bonus to this project is it packs easy into your suitcase! This project is available to adults over 18 years old.

The metal and leather stamped jewelry project makes Ready Paint Fire unique. Not many other studios offer this type of art. They offer pendants in pewter and bracelets come in leather, copper, or alkeme. You can bang out a stamp with your own saying or meaningful words, names or dates. This art packs easy into a suitcase and is a great way to create a meaningful keepsake of your vacation. This project is available to adults over 18 years old. Price vary but again it is affordable. Make a gift for the ones you left back home!

Ready Paint Fire is a great experience for everyone!  It is a great way to get your mind off your sore ski legs or your stress from traveling.  It’s the perfect activity for your ‘day off’ from the ski slopes or a quiet evening outing as the snow is falling. The studio sits right on Keystone Lake and you can watch ice skaters go by as you put the final touches on your artwork. There is nothing like sitting back with a glass of wine and letting your artist flow with friends and family.  Good times, great memories and lots of laughs are guaranteed! Not only do you leave with a smile on your face and a special memory in your heart, you also leave with a special keepsake to remind you of your fabulous vacation in Keystone.  All SummitCove Lodging guests receive a special discounted rate from Ready Paint Fire in the Key to Keystone Coupon Book!

Rainy Day Activities at Keystone Resort

Most of the time, the mornings in Keystone are a bluebird kind of a day with the mountains getting the usual afternoon storm which is usually short and sweet. If it turns out to be that rare ‘rainy’ day, there is still plenty of fun things to do around Keystone and Summit County.

Ready Paint Fire
Test your artistic skills at Ready Paint Fire right in River Run Village in Keystone! You can paint your own ceramic piece of art or create your own “Monet” on canvas. The kiln fires every night so you are able to pick up your art the next day. The Keystone studio’s summer season runs from June 25 – August 14 from 12 pm – 6 pm daily.

Adventure Center, Lakeside Village, Keystone
While most folks go to the Adventure Center to rent one of their boats or feed the fish, inside in the Center there are some fun arcade games to play plus a free Wii interactive gaming system. They also serve food items the kids will love.

Silverthorne Rec Center
It the weather forces you to stay inside, head to the Silverthorne Rec Center where you can still get a good workout in. You can pay for a day admission and have access to 4 pools, waterslides, hot tubs, steam room, sauna, gymnasium, group fitness classes and workout facilities. Your kids will still be tired at the end of the day!

Micro Brews
Summit County has some outstanding micro brews and a rainy day is a perfect day to check them out. You can start in Dillon at Pug Ryan’s which has been a local gathering spot since it opened in 1975. The Brewery was founded in 1997 to brew beer that complimented it’s steakhouse menu. Next stop would be the Dam Brewery just off Highway 6 in Dillon. This Brewery has over 14 varieties of beer. With this many beers, it can be your only stop! But that wouldn’t be much fun so head towards the Silverthorne Outlets and you’ll find the newest Summit County brewery, Baker’s Brewery which features homemade sourdough breads, great views of Buffalo Mountain, quality comfort foods and delicious handcrafted beer.  Next stop: Backcountry Brewery in Frisco. The beers here were crafted to appeal to the outdoor enthusiast. After a few tastings, head to Breckenridge Brewery where you can first take a tour to learn about their brewing process and after enjoy one of your favorites with good food. Since you have eaten, head over to the Broken Compass Brewery which is a traditional brewery (no food) and has some more creative brews so you’re sure to find a good dessert beer. If you hit all the spots, just make sure to have a designated driver!

Lakeside Bowl and Billiards in Dillon
This bowling alley is a perfect place to spend a rainy day but still get a little exercise. There are 12 lanes, pool tables, dart boards, and a shuffleboard table. They also play great 80’s and 90’s music, have good food, and are a local’s favorite! Check their Facebook page for current hours and specials.

You will find there is always something fun to do on your Keystone Vacation, rain or shine!

2013 Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour in Keystone is back, THIS WEEKEND!

It’s back in less than a week!  The festival that makes all other festivals jealous is coming back to Keystone again this weekend on June 22nd and 23rd. Not because it’s the world’s biggest, but rather because it is a celebration of that one food that just about everyone seems to love. We are of course speaking about the only food that falls into almost every category of food: breakfast, lunch, dinner, meat, side dish, main course, appetizer, condiment and to some perhaps even “vegetable,” yep, we’re talking about Bacon.

River Run Village at Keystone Resort plays host once again to the festival devoted to what some consider the world’s most versatile food. The food that once was just for breakfast can now be seen in a huge variety of dishes. It can be used as a topping on a cheeseburger and a topping on a pizza, a wrapping for a filet mignon or the wrapping of a Jalapeno pepper. It can be infused with Vodka and added to a bloody Mary, or even be added to a Latte to make coffee that much better. It can be prepared in a frying pan, or breaded and deep fried or doused in chocolate and served over ice cream.  You will love the chance to try all of these amazing dishes, prepared by the best chefs around!

Keystone Resort provides the perfect backdrop for the 3rd annual installment of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour, where some of the best purveyors of Bacon in the U.S. will be on-hand offering samples of their best stuff. In addition, there will be plenty of vendors offering almost any bacon combination you can think of. If the stimulation of your olfactory and gustatory systems wasn’t enough, be sure to pop in to Warren Station for one of the Bacon University Seminars. Learn about the various types of bacon, methods of curing, and virtually anything you could ever hope to know about bacon.. and more!

For two days, Keystone’s River Run Village will be ALL ABOUT BACON! The tastings will be accompanied by cold beverages and free live music from Hamilton Loomis, The Steeldrivers, and Hell’s Belles.

SummitCove Lodging in Keystone has Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival lodging and ticket packages starting at just $199 for two people!  Come and indulge yourself on one of our favorite foods! After all is said and done, you may be feeling guilty about all that bacon intake, but not to worry! There are plenty of activities from hiking to biking to kayaking and canoeing here in Keystone to help you justify your bacon intake for the day, or weekend.  Don’t miss one of the most unique festivals in Colorado, happening this weekend in Keystone!

How to Save Money On Your Family Ski Trip in Keystone

1. Book As Early As Possible.  Lots of places offer incentives for booking early, including SummmitCove.com Lodging.  Before the season starts, look for early booking sales to save as much as 40% on lodging.  Many sales require you to act fast, so start planning your dates as early as you can so you will be ready to book once you see a great sale. It also ensures you will have the best selection of properties to choose from!

Currently SummitCove is holding a 72-Hour Thanksgiving and Early Season sale that offers 30% off stays of 3 nights or more and as an added bonus, we’ll buy your first day of your adult ski rental from Mountain View Sports!  Sale ends tonight, 11/10/12. See page for all of the details.  We also have a daily ‘Deal of the Day‘ in which we offer an amazing discount for a specific property or time period, good for 1 day only!

2. Visit During Off-Peak Times and Weekdays. Keystone Resort is already open at the beginning of November and closing day isn’t until April 7th, meaning you have a huge window of dates to pick from. In general, prices at ski resorts are the highest during the snowier months and also during school breaks and holidays, such as Christmas and President’s Day Weekend.  Weekdays are another good bet, as lift tickets are usually less expensive and middle of the week skiing typically means fewer crowds, shorter lift lines, and smaller group sizes during lessons.  Keystone is also a great bet for early season skiing, as we have unbelievable snow-making capabilities in case Mother Nature doesn’t deliver; you won’t have to worry about the snow.

3. Join Mailing Lists.  Sign up for all the newsletters and mailing lists you can.  Typically companies will send their subscribers ‘exclusive’ deals that aren’t available to just anyone!

4. Get Your Grade-schooler a Passport. If you live in Colorado, your 5th and 6th graders are eligible for a ‘passport’ which offers free or discounted skiing to students. You can apply online or through the mail and must provide proof of their current school grade. Colorado has both 5th and 6th grade passports.

5. Keep an Eye Out for Deal Sites. Check Liftopia, Discount Lift Tickets, GetSkiTickets.com and SkiCoupons.com for ways to save on lift tickets at resorts all over Colorado. If you don’t see the resort you want, it’s still a good idea to buy your tickets in advance online instead of at the ticket window.  Keystone sells multi-day tickets online, ski 2 of 3 days, 4 of 6, etc. which will save you money when purchased in advance.

6. Save on Your Equipment Rentals. All SummitCove.com guests receive discounts on equipment rentals from both Mountain View Sports and Door 2 Door Delivery with Christy Sports.  Be sure to look for your discount codes in your confirmation e-mails and Key to Keystone Coupon Books!  Don’t forget to make a reservation for your rentals, sometimes rental shops can run out of equipment during the busy season.

7. Check the Grocery Store & Ski Shops for Tickets. Some supermarkets and local ski shops in Summit County and Denver area sell lift tickets for up to $10 per day less than what you’d pay at the ticket window. That’s a savings of $40 per day for a family of four!

8. Download the Key to Keystone Coupon Book
In mid to late November, all future SummitCove guests will have access to an electronic version of our Key to Keystone coupon book which offers deals from all sorts of restaurants, activities, and shops around Keystone and Summit County.  Look for deals on ski rentals, snowmobiling, ziplining, dining, drinks, massages, and more! You also receive a hard copy book of the savings when you arrive in Keystone.
