Head for the Hills This Weekend in Keystone

Spring in the high country is a great time to visit, with beautiful weather, fun events, and tons of great live music! If you are looking for some local Colorado music to liven up your weekend, look no further than Head for the Hills, performing at Warren Station Center for the Arts this Saturday, March 12th in Keystone’s River Run Village. Described as the ‘epitome of Colorado Bluegrass’, this band brings a modern twist to the genre.  They were tagged ‘Best in Colorado Bluegrass’ by the Westword Showcase Reader’s Poll. This is not the band’s first visit to Keystone, they performed an incredible New Year’s Eve show to ring in 2015 and they are back for more good times here in 2016! Locals and visitors alike will enjoy a fun night of great music and dancing.  Free parking for the event is available in the Montezuma Skier Parking lot just near the venue.

Head for the Hills performs a mixture of original songs and popular covers sure to please all audiences. They are self described as “Pop-infused newgrass murder ballads and urbane lyricism.” Their latest album is a combination of “bluegrass, jazz, hip-hop and indie rock into songs inspired by love and misery and comic books.” You won’t want to miss this fun performance! Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9pm, at Warren Station, in River Run in Keystone. Tickets are $15 in advance, or $18 the day of if they are still available. 31st Annual Wine in the Pines this Weekend at Keystone Resort

If you love to support a good cause and are looking for a chance to dress up in the high country, don’t miss this weekend’s 31st annual Wine in the Pines event at Keystone Resort.

The event boasts over 500 wines available for tasting and an amazing array of food provided by some of the best Keystone restaurants, including, but not limited to, Keystone Ranch, Alpenglow Stube, Ski Tip Lodge, and the Der Fondue Chessel!  Ned Archibald, Keystone’s executive pastry chef, comes up with new chocolate creation each year. No sweet tooth will be left unsatisfied, as the chef uses on average 650 lbs of chocolate to make up the dessert table at the event!   His creativity and creations are said to be one of the main highlights of the event each year.

The weekend kicks off on Friday evening, October 17, with the “Roth Winery Winemaker’s Dinner” at Keystone Ranch at 6pm. Please make your reservations early, as there is limited seating. This event pairs a wonderful 5 course meal prepared by Keystone Ranch chef Steve Vlass with Roth Winery wines. The theme of the night is Denim and Diamonds and the dress code is “dressy denim only.”  This event can be reserved by contacting Terri Armstrong at 303-691-9339.

The main event starts at 6 pm on Saturday, October 18, 2014.  This year’s theme is Cirque du Vino, with entertainment provided by Imagination Circus Arts, a group who specializes in aerial acrobatics. Let your jaw drop as the performers defy gravity and show off their amazing skills!   Jazz ‘Diva’ Tina Navarro will also be performing on the main stage. 

The evening will feature both live and silent auctions that benefit the Kelly Smith Employment Center & Ability Connection Colorado, a Denver based organization that provides services for people with disabilities.  The Wine in the Pines event began 31 years ago when the event founders, Mike and Margaret Smith chose to “pay it forward”  and help people with disabilities all of kinds find meaningful employment. 

Tickets for this black-tie formal event can be purchased at www.wineinthepines.org. Advanced tickets are going for $125/person (open seating) or can be purchased at Dillon Ridge Liquors.  Assigned, advanced seating is  $225/person or there is the option to reserve a whole table for 10 people for $2,250.  To book a whole table reservation, call Terri Armstrong at 303-691-9339. Same-day tickets at the door with open seating will go for $150/person. 

Please don’t drink and drive!  Colorado Mountain Express will be running complimentary shuttles throughout the event and urge people to take advantage of this free shuttle service, rather than driving.

 
 

Savor the Slopes at Keystone Resort this February

Have you been dreaming of trying out some of Keystone’s Signature Restaurants? How about a chance to try them all?  Savor the Slopes is a month-long event at Keystone Resort that lets guests sample items in four categories; food, wine, beer, and spirits from some of Keystone’s most coveted restaurants!  Attend daily tastings at various locations throughout Keystone for just $25 per event during the entire month of February. Reservations are required and all events start at 4:30 pm, the perfect time for an après treat!

Week 1 (February 1 – 9) features FOOD tastings including an especially sweet Chocolate Tasting at the Keystone Ranch, Flavors of the Alps Fondue at Der Fondue Chessel, an informative Farm To Table seminar from The Keystone Ranch, Sustainable Fishing and Aquaculture at the Bighorn Bistro & Bar, and many more delicious showcases from your favorite restaurants!

During Week 2 (February 10 – 16) you will have the opportunity to sample and learn all about WINES! Wines of Love, Wines of Colorado, French Wines, Pinot Noirs.. all there is to say is, wine not?

Week 3 (February 17 – 23) focuses on SPIRITS!  Enjoy tasting seminars in which you will learn about and taste Colorado Whiskeys, Compare Vodkas, discover the ‘Beauty of Bitters’ and even enjoy some good old Martini tastings.  Life is good!

The final week of Savor the Slopes is all about BEER!  (February 24 – 28) This one might be our favorite.  Most of the samplings this week are featured on Colorado beer- Microbrews, Browns, and even Summit County Locals.  Make sure you take advantage of Keystone’s free resort shuttles to get back home to your condo after these!

Winter Wine Weekend at Keystone

Wine lovers are in for a nice treat this weekend at Keystone’s Winter Wine Weekend, hosted at Warren Station on Saturday, February 16th & Sunday, February 17th from 7-9 pm.  Saturday night’s schedule features a wine tasting, food and live jazz music from the Will Donato Trio.  Look forward to dishes like jerk pork summer rolls, slow roasted short ribs and Asian-style samosas. On Sunday, enjoy a hands on cooking demo with well-known Summit County Chef, Mr. Chris Rybak.  There will be wine pairing and a New Zealand themed dinner, featuring dishes like crab and shrimp salad on citrus scented quinoa and braised New Zealand lamb shank.
Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the door, advanced tickets online are

Creative Classes and Events at Keystone Resort This Weekend

Keystone is helping you explore your artistic side this weekend with two special offerings of art classes at The Warren Station Events Center!  If you are staying in Silver Mill Condos, Buffalo Lodge, Jackpine, or any of the other vacation properties in River Run Village, you are just a short walk from Warren Station.  Tonight is a special adults only class, learn to paint while enjoying cocktails; a great ‘date night’ or fun night out with friends.  Tomorrow morning, bring your little one and explore your creative side while enjoying cupcakes!  Check out the details below!
 
Canvas & Cocktails
TODAY! Saturday, February 9th

If you are looking for a fun way to spend your Saturday night, think about getting creative at tonight’s session of Canvas and Cocktails at Keystone’s Warren Station.  In a relaxed and social group setting, an artist teacher will guide you step by step to re-create your own version of tonight’s featured painting “Retro Owl”.  Cocktails are provided to help get your creative juices flowing! Everyone from beginners to experts are welcome and everyone will go home with a unique piece of artwork! Doors for the event open at 6pm.  Aprons and supplies are provided and it is recommended to wear old clothes that you might not mind if you accidentally get paint on!  Tickets are $50 at the door.
 
Cupcakes & Canvases
Sunday, February 10th 
10am-12pm
Kids will love this one, Cupcakes and Canvases tomorrow morning at Warren Station. This is a ‘Mommy or Daddy and Me’ or  class that is led by an Art Teacher who guides you and your kids to create some spectacular works of art!  This is a 2 hour class and all of your supplies will be included.  Best of all cupcakes will be available for enjoyment! Cost is $15 a canvas.
 
 
 

Keystone Kidtopia Snow Fort

If you are visiting Keystone this winter, you will certainly run into this larger than life snow fort at the top of Dercum Mountain, just to the left of the River Run Gondola.  Each year the kids snow castle has a new theme, usually Dragon related.  The fort contains tunnels, lookout towers, and even a unique ice sculpture throne perfect for being crowned King or Queen of the castle, playing tag, or even a playful snowball fight. 

The snow fort is part of Keystone Kidtopia, a festival that is designed just for kids, exclusively at Keystone! The 2012/2013 Kidtopia features daily programming all season long, rather than just on busy weekends like last year.  Some other feature events include Saturday Evening Fireworks shows, Disco Tubing, Glowtown Skate nights, Cupcakes and Canvases, cookie Hour and S’mores Saturdays. You and your kids will have the time of their lives this season while visiting Keystone Resort!

New Year’s 2012 in Keystone

What do you have planned to ring in 2013?  Keystone Resort doesn’t disappoint when it comes to New Year’s Celebrations!  Enjoy a day on the slopes, skiing or riding on over 1400 acres of terrain, and ski as late as 8pm.  Take a trip on the tubing hill at Adventure Point or skate around on one of two outdoor ice rinks in Keystone, followed by a warm drink by the firepit. Finish off the night with a torchlight parade, fireworks, and Head for the Hills, playing at Warren Station!

Holiday Happenings 2012 at Keystone Resort

The Holidays are here at Keystone Resort!  All around the Resort you will notice signs of the Holidays, including the penguin Snow Sculpture pictured above!  There is a large lighted Christmas Tree in River Run Village and as you walk you will hear the sounds of Christmas Songs playing throughout the Village.  Some fun Holiday events are planned for the next two weeks in Keystone.

Ice Skating: 2 outdoor ice rinks are both open at Dercum Square in River Run Village and Lakeside Village.  Dercum Square is open daily 11am-8pm, and Lakeside Village is open 9am – 9pm.  Play pond hockey or play ‘ice queen’- its something the whole family will enjoy!

Snow-Tubing:
Just like when you were a kid, only on a much bigger hill with its own tubing lift – during the day or under the lights. With a unique state-of-the-art conveyor lift, the amount of rides is up to you. Get ready to laugh until it hurts in this must-do experience for all ages.  Every Thursday enjoy Disco Snow Tubing under the lights!

Night Skiing:  New Holiday hours have Keystone Night Skiing staying open late until January 6!  The mountain stays open under the lights until 8pm daily and 6pm on Sundays.  Keystone lift tickets hold the best value, with a 12-hour ski day!

Holiday Ice Show: Celebrate the season at the Holiday Magic Ice Show at Keystone Lake, performed by the Denver Figure Skating Club on Saturday, 12/22 at Noon. There will be 25 numbers that will be 1-3 minutes long each. Public skating hours of operation at Lakeside are 9:00am-9:00pm.

Keystone Aglow: 
Every night, watch as both villages light up the night with Keystone Aglow, a light show in River Run and Mountain House Villages.

Keystone Kidtopia, Fireworks, & The Snowfort:  Keystone Kidtopia is all season long, with daily events planned.  Be sure to check out the life-size snowfort atop Dercum Mountain- this year has a new location, with a view! Every Saturday Evening, check out the fireworks show at 7pm, view from either village.

Chocolate Village at Keystone Lodge & Spa: Be sure not to miss this delicious homemade creation from Keystone Resort’s Pastry Chef Ned Archibald. This handcrafted holiday tradition features 2,500 pounds of chocolate crafted into a miniature alpine village, a working chocolate gondola, a cascading chocolate waterfall, 6 foot tall white chocolate Christmas tree with chocolate presents. This mouth watering creation gets a special new addition every year.

Head for the Hills New Year’s Eve Celebration:Ring in the new year with one of your favorite bands, Head for the Hills playing at Warren Station. Keller Williams Coming to Keystone!

According to the Mayan Calendars, the end of the world is predicted to come down December 21, 2012.  Popular musician, Keller Williams is throwing an ‘End of the World’ celebration right here in Keystone for 2 nights on December 21 & 22.  Williams is  known as a ‘master of acoustic guitar’ and has teamed up with many different artists over the years since his first album back in 1994. 

Join Keller Williams and his Compadres at Warren Station in Keystone, Colorado on December 21st and 22nd for two nights of fun.  The first night will feature Keller, Billy Nershi and Keith Moseley picking bluegrass, as well as a Keller solo set.  On the second night, experience the funky grooves of Keller, Kyle Hollingsworth, Keith Moseley and Dave Watts along with a solo set from Keller.

Tickets for the event are $30 for solo nights or $50 in advance for both nights.  Book a condo in River Run Village, such as Jackpine Lodge, Dakota Lodge, or Silver Mill Condos to be close to the shows, along with restaurants, bars, and the ski slopes at Keystone Resort!
