Keystone Wine and Jazz Festival is Almost Here!

Calling all oenophiles and music lovers. It’s time for the Keystone Wine and Jazz Festival!  Filled with wine tastings, educational seminars and live music from such great artists as Pg6ix, Kirby Velarde quartet, Harold Rapp, Jackiem Joyner, Stanley Jordan, and Selena Albright.  All these greats are headlined by crowd favorite Dotsero. The River Run Village Grand Tasting brings it all together. With our epic summer time days here for this fabulous festival, the mountains are calling. The festival kicks off with a reserve wine tasting this Friday, July 12th at 7:00pm and continues through the weekend.

Wine and Jazz Festival Pour

The wine seminars are an engaging and fun way to increase your wine knowledge.  Starting Saturday, July 13th at 12:00pm at Warren Station we have “Let’s talk DIRT-Y” with viticulturist Rudy Marchesi.  He was Oregon’s person of the year and is the owner of Montinore Estate in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. He is a leader in certified organic farming and the biodynamic community.  Don’t miss his story and wine tastings. Included is a 2017 Pinot Fris, NV Borealis, 2018 almost dry Riesling, 2017 Red Cap Pinot Noir, and a 2014 Grahams Block 7 Pinot Noir.

Next up at 2:00PM at Warren Station is Master Sommelier Roland Mico leading the “More than Pinot Noir” seminar.  Alternatives to Pinot Noir being served will include a Nerello Mascalese and a Beaujolais.

Ending the day nicely we have “Let’s Talk Tequila – Shaken, Stirred, and Straight”.  This takes place at Warren Station at 4:00PM. We all have our favorite Margarita places.  Presented by Tyler Wang, you will learn history, production, and an insider’s guide to Tequila.  You will also learn about pairing ingredients and try a Paloma Cocktail. Included are samplings of El Tesoro Tequilas. Concluding this fascinating seminar will be a cocktail creation demonstration.  Take your newfound seminar knowledge and browse the wine tents in River Run Village while listening to some fantastic jazz and enjoying the wonderful summertime weather in the mountains.

Make sure you stick around for Sunday’s festivities.  The day opens with the annual favorite seminar, ‘Prosecco and Pancakes’, running from 10:30am – 12:30pm at Warren Station.  Enjoy scrumptious Ruffino Prosecco Cocktails with an interesting mix of pancakes, toppings and classic breakfast sides, a great way to start the day!

Finish off two days of education, memories, fun, wine, spirits and bubbles with “Name! That! Wine!” at 2:00pm at Warren Station.  The presenter is Ben Braley. You will try blind tastings and learn more about approach and flavor characteristics for many different varietals.  This will all take place in an exciting game show style format. Blind tastings are an excellent way to learn about our own palate and what you are smelling and tasting.

We hope you can join us for this amazing weekend of Wine and Jazz.  Stay the weekend and book one of our ticket and lodging festival packages, where you can save up to 15% on your weekend. But hurry, package sales end Friday at 4 pm.  If there is a certain seminar you are interested in attending, be sure to also purchase your seminar tickets in advance, as they typically sell out! Book a River Run Condo with a festival view and you can watch the music from the balcony and you won’t have to worry about driving anywhere after wine tasting. We hope to see you this weekend!

Tomorrow is RACE DAY! You can still sign up for the Das Bier Burner 5K

If it slipped your mind to signup for Colorado’s most fun 5K – don’t worry!  You can still signup online for the Das Bier Burner 5k until 6pm this evening, Friday September 1 or in person tomorrow on race day in River Run Village from 8:15 am until 11:15 am.

The Das Bier Burner 5K is in its 4th year and is put on by your favorite property management and vacation rental company, SummitCove! The race starts right in the heart of Keystone’s River Run Village, at the entrance, near the Montezuma parking lot.  You’ll find that the atmosphere is fun and relaxed and not too competitive!  We have kids and adults, young and old, from all athletic abilities come out to participate in the event.  Walking or running, some pushing a stroller, making their way to the finish line to ‘EARN’ their complimentary brat from New Moon Cafe and New Belgium beer that is provided after the race at Keystone Oktoberfest! Each runner also receives a commemorative event t-shirt and goody bag with their check-in packet.

Costumes are HIGHLY encouraged for this event and we have seen some great ones over the years.  Lederhosen and Dirndls are very popular, as well as anything with a beer theme!  We even had a recent bride and groom run in their wedding attire in a past race! The SummitCove Yetis will be on site cheering the runners on and pumping up the crowd! Prizes are awarded across multiple age brackets in the first through third finishers as well as prizes for best male and female costume!

2013 Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour in Keystone is back, THIS WEEKEND!

It’s back in less than a week!  The festival that makes all other festivals jealous is coming back to Keystone again this weekend on June 22nd and 23rd. Not because it’s the world’s biggest, but rather because it is a celebration of that one food that just about everyone seems to love. We are of course speaking about the only food that falls into almost every category of food: breakfast, lunch, dinner, meat, side dish, main course, appetizer, condiment and to some perhaps even “vegetable,” yep, we’re talking about Bacon.

River Run Village at Keystone Resort plays host once again to the festival devoted to what some consider the world’s most versatile food. The food that once was just for breakfast can now be seen in a huge variety of dishes. It can be used as a topping on a cheeseburger and a topping on a pizza, a wrapping for a filet mignon or the wrapping of a Jalapeno pepper. It can be infused with Vodka and added to a bloody Mary, or even be added to a Latte to make coffee that much better. It can be prepared in a frying pan, or breaded and deep fried or doused in chocolate and served over ice cream.  You will love the chance to try all of these amazing dishes, prepared by the best chefs around!

Keystone Resort provides the perfect backdrop for the 3rd annual installment of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour, where some of the best purveyors of Bacon in the U.S. will be on-hand offering samples of their best stuff. In addition, there will be plenty of vendors offering almost any bacon combination you can think of. If the stimulation of your olfactory and gustatory systems wasn’t enough, be sure to pop in to Warren Station for one of the Bacon University Seminars. Learn about the various types of bacon, methods of curing, and virtually anything you could ever hope to know about bacon.. and more!

For two days, Keystone’s River Run Village will be ALL ABOUT BACON! The tastings will be accompanied by cold beverages and free live music from Hamilton Loomis, The Steeldrivers, and Hell’s Belles.

SummitCove Lodging in Keystone has Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival lodging and ticket packages starting at just $199 for two people!  Come and indulge yourself on one of our favorite foods! After all is said and done, you may be feeling guilty about all that bacon intake, but not to worry! There are plenty of activities from hiking to biking to kayaking and canoeing here in Keystone to help you justify your bacon intake for the day, or weekend.  Don’t miss one of the most unique festivals in Colorado, happening this weekend in Keystone!

Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour at Keystone- A Festival Dedicated to Bacon!

That’s right, a Keystone summer festival dedicated entirely to the salty candy of meats- BACON!  On June 22 & 23,  the smell of delicious sizzling bacon will take over Keystone’s River Run Village!

Vendors from across the country will be serving up pounds and pounds of bacon!  Whether it be traditional style bacon, chocolate dipped bacon, bacon sundaes, or bacon Bloody Marys, you know it will be good! Be prepared for some great surprises with some of the more unconventional dishes!  Don’t miss the signature event, where vendors pair up with Keystone chefs to create unique bacon dishes and are judged in both ‘savory’ and ‘sweet’ categories. Festival visitors can also enjoy live music and beer all weekend while taking in the sights and sounds of the festival.  There will be bacon-themed lectures and cooking demonstrations held at Warren Station over the course of the weekend, to help people learn about all the different ways of cooking with bacon and new techniques to help you whip up your own unique bacon dishes at home.  Kids can have fun playing bacon-themed games and doing free crafts and activities, not to mention meeting the giant pig mascot.

This fun event is the first of three major summer festivals in Keystone, followed by the Wine & Jazz Festival on July 13 and 14th and the popular Bluegrass and Beer Festival taking place the first weekend in August.

SummitCove Lodging is offering weekend festival packages that include your festival tickets and lodging in River Run Village.  See Bacon Festival Packages Here.
