The is the only race that rewards you with a brat and a beer afterwards, it’s the Das Bier Burner 5K in Keystone, Colorado! This fun and family-friendly event supports local charity, SOS Outreach who works with at-risk youth to improve their lives and skills through adventure programming, such as skiing and hiking! The Das Bier Burner 5K 2018 is in its 5th year and is fun for everyone involved. Dress up in your favorite lederhosen or dirndl, Yeti costume or as a beer stein – whatever it is, make it good because you will want to win the Freshies Drink Gift Baskets offered up at the audience-judged costume contest!
The race starts and finishes at the entrance to River Run Village in the heart of Keystone Resort. Runners head east on the Keystone bike path towards Settler’s Creek and back through the Alders neighborhood. The course crosses the bubbling Snake River multiple times and eventually heads back past the River Run Gondola and straight into the village where the crowds will be cheering you on! Cross the finish line and then shortly after, head into Oktoberfest to claim your free brat and beer! All registered runners receive a commemorative event t-shirt and goody bag filled with schwag! You’ll also have tickets for a free brat and beer (if you are over 21) at Keystone Oktoberfest!
Keystone Oktoberfest runs from 1 – 6 pm in River Run. The event is free to attend with German fare and drinks available for purchase. You can also pickup an Oktoberfest commemorative beer stein that includes 3 drink coupons for just $35. The afternoon will feature live music from festival favorite, ‘Those Austrian Guys’ and live performances from the Edelweiss Schuhplattlers dancers. Kids can dance and have their faces painted. There will be other kids activities all day long.

Same-day registration for the race will be going on in River Run Village this morning from 8:15 am until 11:15 am, with the race starting at noon. Your entry will get you an event t-shirt, goody bag filled with all sorts of fun schwag as well as a complimentary brat and beer after the race. A portion of the proceeds of this event supports the SOS Outreach of Summit County. The course is fairly flat and follows the paved Keystone bike path for most of the route, heading towards East Keystone, through Settler’s Creek and back towards the village along the Snake River. Not planning on running? Head to the village anyways and grab a cowbell to cheer on the runners starting around 12:15. At 1pm, Keystone Oktoberfest kicks off in the village with Oktoberfest beer tasting, food vendors and live music from the local favorite Those Austrian Guys and polka dancing! There will also be plenty of kids activities taking place and this event is free to attend, with the option to purchase food and drink.

The 4th annual Das Bier Burner 5K is scheduled for Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Keystone. This fun ‘beer’ run features a smooth course over rolling hills, mostly on a paved bike path, starting and finishing in Keystone’s River Run Village.
Runners will enjoy the serene setting and great mountain views throughout the race! All ages are welcome and this event is family-friendly; you can even push a stroller if you want to run with your little ones! Every runner receives a reusable goody bag and t-shirt at check-in, as well as a free brat and a beer (for those over 21+) after the race! Come up early on Friday night to get a good night’s rest and check-in early from 1 – 8 pm at the SummitCove check-in office. All registered runners receive 35% off weekend lodging with SummitCove. If you can’t make it on Friday, get checked in for the race near the River Run Village entrance on Ida Belle drive from 8:45 – 11:30 am on Saturday morning. Same day registrations will be accepted unless the race has already sold out, but same-day t-shirts are not always a guarantee, so why not register now?
This event supports charity partner, the SOS Outreach. This non-profit organization works with underprivileged youth, ages 8 – 18, to promote growth, skills and personal development through outdoor sports programs such as skiing, mountain biking and climbing. A portion of the proceeds of this event go directly to the Summit County SOS Outreach group. You will see some of their kids out on the course on race day cheering you on!
The race starts at 12pm with a mass start and heads out towards East Keystone down Montezuma road. Soon the course heads south, up and around Settler’s Creek Townhomes and down near the Snake River. Runners will kick it into high gear as they pass by the gondola and head into the finish, lapping around River Run as they are cheered on by the SummitCove Yeti and other fans armed with lots of cowbells!
This event is nothing but fun for everyone involved! Costumes are highly encouraged, whether it’s your Yeti suit, lederhosen or dirndls! A ‘Best Costume’ prize will be awarded during the prize ceremony. Whether you enjoy a leisurely jog, fast-paced walk or are obsessed with coming in the top 10, this race is for you. Keystone Oktoberfest kicks off directly after the race at 1pm, which is where you can enjoy your complimentary brat from New Moon Cafe and New Belgium beer. The ‘Summit Concert Band’ kicks things off at 1pm and then local Oktoberfest favorite, ‘Those Austrian Guys’ start 2pm and play all afternoon until the last ‘Prost’ at 6pm. There will be lots of fun kid’s activities happening including free face painters, a bounce house and the Edelweiss Schuhplattlers, Polka Dancers, who will encourage everyone to dance! THE BLUE RIBBON BACON TOUR
The Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour makes a stop in Keystone on June 27 & 28! From 1 – 6pm each day, come out and enjoy free live music and a variety of great eats! Have you ever had chocolate covered bacon? This year you can enjoy a full day of activities and live music throughout Keystone for your 4th of July celebrations! The morning is packed full of fun events for kids with a fishing derby starting at 8am, Super Slimy Science at 9am, a bike decorating party at 10am, followed by the Children’s Bike Parade at 11am! Head over to Lakeside Village and rent a paddle boat or try stand-up paddleboarding! Check out live music from Trout Steak Revival, performing from Noon – 3pm at the Lakeside Village, while BBQ is available À la carte at Edgewater Cafe. WINE AND JAZZ FESTIVAL
The Keystone Jazz and Wine Festival returns again on July 18 – 19. Sample a variety of wines from a selection of over 300! Meanwhile you’ll be able to enjoy live jazz music from 8 different bands over the course of the weekend, like Dotsero, Will Donato, and Joey Sommerville, just to name a few. This spectacular event is held from 1 – 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. BLUEGRASS & BEER FESTIVAL
The perfect combination for a summer festival… sunshine, beer, homecookin’ and of course bluegrass! Keystone’s Beer and Bluegrass Festival will be held August 1 – 2. Bluegrass begins at noon both days, with beer sampling being held from 1 – 5pm each day. Taste delicious brews from over 25 breweries and get down to some great live bluegrass. This is one of Keystone’s most popular summer festivals and once you attend, you’ll know why! 3 different stages will host bands such as the Steep Canyon Rangers, Cornmeal, Ragged Union, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades and more. MOUNTAIN TOWN MUSIC FESTIVAL This is one of Keystone’s newest festivals, back for its 2nd year, focusing on Indie music acts and a Colorado Peach Harvest theme. This festival is unique as it takes place on Friday night and Saturday, with a fantastic fireworks display happening on Friday night. A portion of the proceeds of the Das Bier Burner 5K event will be donated to SOS Outreach, which strives to inspire at-risk youth with their mountain adventure-based programs, hoping to lead them to make positive life decisions towards healthy and successful lives.
