When you plan a Keystone Resort vacation, it’s a great idea to include a side trip to one of our neighboring towns in Summit County. Frisco is a great choice for just about anyone with it’s small town charm, amazing scenery and plethora of activities. This weekend, head to the 4th Annual Downtown Frisco Art Festival!
The Art show is set for 10am to 5pm on Saturday, July 7th and Sunday July 8th with FREE admission! Over 100 artists will showcase works including glass, mixed media, paintings, jewelry, pottery and more! The Art Festival is a part of a show traveling nationwide. There will be plenty of opportunity to view and purchase the art. The festival takes place in Downtown Frisco on Main Street, so you will get the chance to experience all that the Town of Frisco has to offer.
June 21st marks the opening of summer performances at the Lake Dillon Theatre, beginning with ‘Xanadu’. Running through, August 18th, Keystone Resort vacationers will want to make this a part of their itinerary!
The performance will include music by the Electric Light Orchestra. Here is the story, according to the Lake Dillon Theatre Company:
“In the heart of Mt. Olympus, the young and beautiful muse known as Kira yearns for something more. When watching over a struggling young artist, Sonny, she descends from the heavens to find herself in the last place she possibly imagined: Venice Beach, CA in the year 1980! Kira must aid Sonny in the creation of the world’s greatest artistic endeavor since the Parthenon – THE FIRST ROLLER DISCO! Kira’s covetous sisters interfere when she falls hopelessly in love with Sonny, even though it is forbidden for immortals.”
Performances will take place from June 21- August 18 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 6:30pm, and Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm. Tickets are priced between $27 and $30. Please call 970.513.9386 for further information or to purchase tickets.
Visitors to Summit County have plenty of choices of activities and events, and musical events are often one of the most popular options. Every year, guests come to the mountains to enjoy cooler summer temperatures and the many music festivals and concerts in Keystone and nearby towns and resorts. One of our recommendations for music lovers is to visit our nearby neighbors in Breckenridge and enjoy the Breckenridge Music Festival 2012. Performances will run between Friday, June 22nd, and Saturday, August 18th with a variety of performances. Visitors to Keystone Resort should make the short drive to enjoy one of these concerts and explore Summit County!
Performances will vary in musical style, and there is something for everyone. The Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra, in residence each summer, perform amazing orchestral concerts. You can enjoy chamber music in an intimate setting or catch the Blue River series for jazz, blues and bluegrass, roots rock, country and other styles.
