Great snow paired with awesome Bluegrass music? Find it next weekend in Keystone at the 9th Annual Winter Bluegrass Weekend! Big name bluegrass bands will be headed to Warren Station on February 1 and 2, 2019 for a weekend of live music and fun! Attend one or both nights to catch some of the best Bluegrass Bands in Colorado!
Friday night, Buffalo Commons out of Steamboat Springs kicks things off at 7pm. Timber! hits the stage at 8:15 and headliner The Railsplitters kicks up at 9:30 pm. The Railsplitters have roots in traditional Bluegrass but mix with all sorts of musical influences for a one of a kind sound. They’ve taken home multiple awards including 1st place at ‘ROCKYGRASS’ in 2013. Their most recent album was released in late 2017, titled, ‘Jump In’.
Saturday, catch the Pine Beatles, a community band who come right from Summit County at 7pm, followed by Whitewater Ramble at 8:15 pm, who will surely get your feet moving. Headliner Rapidgrass comes on to finish out the weekend, starting at 9:30 pm. This band has played all across the world and were the winners of the ‘ROCKYGRASS’ band contest in 2015 and has a new recent album that they will be sharing.
Tickets are $15 per night or just $25 to attend both evenings. Same day tickets will be $20 at the door, if still available. Friday, January 25: Warren Station Winter Comedy Series Finale Head to Warren Station tonight for the final night of the Winter Comedy Series! Adam Cayton-Holland will be headlining the night, with Christie Buchele opening the night. Adam has toured nationally, recently named one of 25 “comics to watch” by Esquire Magazine. He has appeared on shows like ‘Those Who Can’t’, ‘Conan’ , ‘The Late Late Show’, and more. Opener Christie Buchele is from Denver, CO and performs on the heart-wrenching and hilarious realities of being a woman with a disability. Don’t miss this fun night out at Keystone! Saturday, January 26: Mountainfilm on Tour: Inspiring Mountain Adventure Short Documentaries Ready to be inspired? The Mountainfilm on Tour is visiting Keystone this weekend, showing inspiring films that were handpicked from the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado. These adventure-packed short documentary style films use the power of their art to inspire audiences to create a better world. A presenter will guide the audience through the programming to provide additional insight. There will be two showings at Warren Station, at 3 pm and 7pm, with doors opening 30 minutes prior to showtimes. Cost is $10 for adults and $7 for kids 12 and under.
Kidtopia Fireworks Don’t miss the weekly River Run fireworks show at Keystone! Look up to the sky over River Run on the mountain and watch the Kidtopia fireworks, beginning at 7pm.
Live Music After the comedy show, head over to the Snake River Saloon in Mountain House to catch some live music! JL Universe will be playing! Expect a small cover charge to enter.
Year 7 of the Keystone Winter Bluegrass Weekend brings one of the best lineups yet! This fun weekend of music at Keystone Ski Resort gives you the chance to roll up your sleeves, let loose and get into the groove with 2 nights of music from some great string bands! Most of the bands are Colorado based, and the headlining bands, Tenth Mountain Division and Chain Station, are too, from Boulder and Denver respectively. There really is something for everyone in this lineup. Music starts at 7 pm on both nights!

Live Music: Keller Williams Two nights of Keller Williams at Warren Station in River Run Village! Friday night will be a Bluegrass themed evening and Saturday’s show will be electric. Both nights Keller will do a first solo set, followed by a second set with various ‘compadres’ from various bands including Elephant Revival, Leftover Salmon and The String Cheese Incident. Kidtopia Spectacular Friday starts the 10-day celebration of fun and everything kids! The newly remodeled Labonte’s Smokehouse Grand Opening is Friday afternoon, with all sorts of specials and giveaways. Friday afternoon is craft-er-noon at Kidtopia Headquarters and then Friday night there is a Winter Wonderland Bounce party at the Keystone Lodge Ballroom starting at 4:30 pm. On Saturday, participate in the Reverse Parade with Santa in River Run and get a photo at the Epicmix Photo Booth with Santa! Saturday evening head to the top of the mountain for the lighting of the Snow Fort, followed by the Saturday night fireworks!
Keystone’s Warren Station in River Run hosts all sorts of events and concerts throughout the year, and this ski season is no exception. There are already quite a few big name bands on the books for the 2017 / 2018, meaning it’s going to be a good year for live music in the mountains!
First up is Keller Williams and his compadres, playing a two night set on December 15 and 16. Keller is back at Keystone for his 6th year in a row! This event features two very different evenings, with Friday night a Bluegrass focused set and Saturday electric. Keller brings to stage each night a solo set, followed by a group set with ‘compadres’ – friends from other bands including Elephant Revival, Leftover Salmon, String Cheese Incident and Grant Farm. Keller is known for his amazing improv performances and looping tracks. Advance tickets are $30 for one night or get both nights for $55, you can purchase Keller Williams tickets here. The shows end at 11:30 each night, but the music doesn’t have to stop! Head over to the Goat Soup and Whiskey for more live music from another Colorado based band, The Magic Beans, playing the same evenings.
Just a couple weeks later, Colorado Bluegrass band, Trout Steak Revival takes the stage for a New Year’s Eve throwdown, again returning after previous years at Warren Station. This 5 player string band has been named with multiple awards and nominations, including an Emmy for their work on a PBS soundtrack. New Year’s Eve in Keystone is a ton of fun, with skiing, ice skating, tubing, fireworks, and a torchlight parade all precursing this main concert event to ring in the new year. The show is $20 in advance or $25 at the door if still available.
January is action packed too, with the Kyle Hollingsworth Band headlining Warren Station on January 12, kicking off the Martin Luther King Holiday 3-day weekend. Kyle is best known as the keyboardist in the long-time Colorado-created band, The String Cheese Incident, whose roots are deep from the mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado. Hollingsworth brings a great live energy to the stage and plays a mix of original songs, String Cheese music, as well as cover songs. Your feet will move as soon as he hits the stage! The following week, The Motet brings their soul funk tunes to Keystone on January 19, for the 5th year in a row! This show tends to sell out every year and the people just can’t get enough of the rhythmic funk tunes from this fun band. Get your tickets now before this show sells out!

What’s the buzz on the FAC? Keystone’s Friday Afternoon Club takes place every Friday Afternoon all summer long between the dates of June 1st- September 1st. There are a ton of discounted food and drink specials, fun outdoor games and live music, not to forget the free scenic gondola ride! Listen and boogie down to live music while watching the sun set behind the mountains. Some of the activities include bocce ball, corn hole and ladder ball and can be checked out through the Overlook Grill, free of charge. Kids will enjoy the free games with their parents too! There is also a slackline course and plenty of hiking trails at the top of the mountain, begging to be explored. Stay late to watch the sun go down- nothing beats seeing a Colorado sunset from the top of Dercum Mountain!

The free gondola rides start at 1pm and the live music starts at 4pm, with the gondola running until close. Pick up your free foot passenger ticket at the ticket office, located just across from the River Run Gondola and you’ll be on your way.

Headed to Keystone for the Beer and Bluegrass Festival this weekend? Three stages will be setup throughout River Run Village to feature live bluegrass music all weekend long. The music starts at 11:30 am on both Saturday and Sunday, with the beer tasting beginning at 1, finishing up each day at 5 pm.
The music doesn’t have to stop when the festival ends! The Snake River Saloon, which is only a few minutes walk from River Run Village, will be hosting live bands with Zuma Road, Woodshed Red and Harmonious Junk playing this Thursday through Saturday nights!
Zuma Road is a fairly new band made up of Summit County locals. Self described as a ‘five piece groove, soul, rock group,” Zuma Road will start the weekend off by playing at The Snake on Thursday night. Friday will feature a funky bluegrass inspired band, Woodshed Red, native to Colorado Spring. And to close the weekend out, Harmonious Junk will keep you dancing all night with their jam band vibes.

Spring in the high country is a great time to visit, with beautiful weather, fun events, and tons of great live music! If you are looking for some local Colorado music to liven up your weekend, look no further than Head for the Hills, performing at Warren Station Center for the Arts this Saturday, March 12th in Keystone’s River Run Village. Described as the ‘epitome of Colorado Bluegrass’, this band brings a modern twist to the genre. They were tagged ‘Best in Colorado Bluegrass’ by the Westword Showcase Reader’s Poll. This is not the band’s first visit to Keystone, they performed an incredible New Year’s Eve show to ring in 2015 and they are back for more good times here in 2016! Locals and visitors alike will enjoy a fun night of great music and dancing. Free parking for the event is available in the Montezuma Skier Parking lot just near the venue.
Head for the Hills performs a mixture of original songs and popular covers sure to please all audiences. They are self described as “Pop-infused newgrass murder ballads and urbane lyricism.” Their latest album is a combination of “bluegrass, jazz, hip-hop and indie rock into songs inspired by love and misery and comic books.” You won’t want to miss this fun performance! Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9pm, at Warren Station, in River Run in Keystone. Tickets are $15 in advance, or $18 the day of if they are still available. This weekend, on December 18th & 19th, Keller Williams & His Compadres are back in Keystone for another round of fun. Keller Williams is a highly respected guitarist that has played with just about anyone worth knowing in the the “jam band” scene amongst other great types of musicians. He is known for his extremely versatile music ranging from solo acoustic sets to bluegrass, reggae and much more. These Keystone shows have become a really fun tradition and always seem to be extra special. Each night, Williams will play a solo act to kick things off and then for the second set he invites ‘His Compadres’ to the stage and really get the crowd moving. Maybe it’s the friends that come join him on stage, seeing such an impressive concert in our snowy village or just a combination of it all, but this is a show you will never forget. His “compadres” this year include Keith Moseley and Michael Travis from The String Cheese Incident, Garrett Sayers from the Motet, Andy Hall and Chris Pandolfi from the Infamous Stringdusters, and Drew Emmitt from Leftover Salmon.
