It’s Not Over! Upcoming Spring 2018 Events at Arapahoe Basin

Although Keystone’s lifts stop turning on April 8, Arapahoe Basin stays open for a few more months, typically into early June, depending on the snow.  A-Basin is just 7 miles up the hill from Keystone and there is even a free shuttle, the Swan Mountain Flyer, from the Summit Stage that will take you up there!  Why not extend your ski season and head to Arapahoe Basin for some more turns and fun events?

We’re Still Skiing in Colorado!

Although Keystone Resort officially closed a month ago, Arapahoe Basin remains open as long as they can.  Their current projected closing date is June 5, 2016, but they could extend the closing date if the snow keeps up.  The resort has received 11 inches of fresh snow in the last 3 days and 5 feet of snow since the closing of Keystone Resort in early April.  Spring skiing in Colorado can range from fresh powder turns on a chilly day to slushy runs in the sunshine. It’s not unusual to see skiers and riders wearing swimsuits, shorts, t-shirts, and other fun attire on a warm Spring day, stopping at ‘The Beach’ every few runs to enjoy some barbecue or a cold beverage.  Get there early to secure a free spot, or you also have the option to reserve one in advance for a small fee. Some people hang out at The Beach all day and never actually even hit the slopes!  A-Basin’s Spring calendar definately doesn’t disappoint, offering live music every Saturday with their Shakin’ at the Basin Spring Concert Series and other fun events like the Festival of Brewpubs and their newest event, the Swimwear Parade on Skis.  This fun event is completely free! Registration takes place in the Base Area from 9 am – 12 pm on Saturday, May 21. At 1 pm, watch Colorado’s Largest Swimwear Parade as skiers and riders strut their stuff down Sundance in nothing but their swimsuits!

Spend your Memorial Day Weekend in the mountains this year!  Saturday will feature live music from 80’s Rock New Sensation and on Sunday, attend the 15th Annual Festival of the Brewpubs while you check out the Spring Rail Jam.  The beer festival will feature music from Jakarta and beer from 13 different breweries. Purchase a mug for just $30 to get unlimited beer tasting from 12 pm – 4 pm. Stay the weekend in Keystone with SummitCove Vacation Lodging and take advantage of the free Summit Stage bus that will take you up to the Basin. Sunday will be the last day of the season that the Summit Stage bus will be running from Keystone to A-Basin. The free bus will leave River Run in Keystone at :55 after the hour until 4:55pm. The last bus will leave A-Basin at 5:10pm to go back down the hill to Keystone. After the festivities, take advantage of a nice soak in the hot tub at your River Run vacation condo! Nothing beats Spring skiing at Arapahoe Basin!

Keystone’s ski season may be over, but the snow is falling and Arapahoe Basin is having a fantastic spring with over 2 feet of new snow in the past few weeks! With a closing date pushed back to June 6, A-Basin has a lot of skiing left and plenty of events to accompany.

Throughout May, A-Basin hosts a myriad of bands for their Shakin’ at the Basin May Concert Series. Every Saturday, a new band will be playing at the base from 1 to 4 pm. These concerts are always free and are a great way to spend a Saturday, skiing or riding and enjoying live music in the Colorado sunshine!

May 2 – Whitewater Ramble
May 9 – Euforquestra
May 16 – Funkiphino
May 23 – Wash Park
May 30 – High Five

Among these concerts, Arapahoe Basin is hosting its 14th Annual Festival of the Brewpubs on Sunday, May 24th. This festival will feature music from Funky Johnson and brews from 12 different Summit County and Colorado brewers. For just $25 you can sample 12 different brewers from 12 to 4 pm and you will be able to take home a commemorative mug.  This is also the last day the Summit Stage free bus will run from Keystone, giving you the chance to sample as much beer as you would like and take the shuttle back down to your property here in Keystone! May 24th will also feature a free Rail Jam in the Treeline Terrain Park.

Spring Events at Arapahoe Basin

Although Keystone Resort has already wrapped up their 2013 – 2014 ski season, Arapahoe Basin remains open indefinitely, as long as there is still snow to ski on! The resort has previously stayed open as late as July 4th, depending on the snow pack.  With a current base of base of 74 inches and snow in the forecast, we expect the conditions to remain good for awhile to come.  Arapahoe Basin is known for their steep skiing and loyal local crowds, but is probably most well-known for the its famous ‘Beach’ area- the strip of the parking lot that backs up to the base of the mountain.  Skiers and snowboarders camp out here with barbecue grills, lawn chairs, coolers and good spirits, enjoying the snow and sunshine in between runs.  Spring is the perfect time to enjoy the Beach!

Spring Events at Arapahoe Basin
