Whether you live here in Summit County or are visiting for the holidays, you can now send your kids to Keystone Science School over winter break! The camps are indeed scheduled with Summit County’s School District Calendar, but coincidentally, the dates also align with many of our guests holiday vacations. There will be both day and overnight camps available for kids ranging in ages from 5 – 17. The camps focus on science and technology, mixed with adventure through interactive education. The are aimed at helping kids work on developing their scientific and critical thinking skills, plus having fun with their peers.
Keystone Science School came up with the winter camp idea after surveying and listening to local parents as they spoke of hardships over break in finding child care as well as keeping kids stimulated and engaged over school breaks. This is a chance for parents to drop them off at camp for a fun time instead of trying to find child care. KSS will offer potential campers with the same model from their summer camp, but instead with winter-based activities, such as snow-science and winter hiking. They will dig snow pits, learn about snow and snow stability. Other activities may include cross-country skiing, sledding, campfires, snow forts, arts and crafts, archery and more.
Keystone Science School’s winter camp is happening on December 27–28, 2018 and again from January 2–4, 2019. The cost is $65 per day for day camp and $85 per day for overnight camp. For more details, visit KeystoneScienceSchool.org.
Now that the holidays are over, you should have some time to start planning your family Spring Break ski trip to Keystone, CO!
Why choose Keystone?

Christmas time in Keystone is nothing short of magical. The white snowy backdrop, holiday lights and music with the cheery feel make for a family holiday that you won’t forget. Keystone will always deliver that perfect holiday feeling, but what about the condo you rent? Here are my top 3 favorite properties to rent for a family vacation over the holidays that really bring out that dreamy holiday, cozy feeling and bring your family together.
The location of this property alone puts it in class of its own. Located out in the Keystone Ranch area, it is a bit away from the ski slopes, but allows you to enjoy the scenic 10 minute drive and take in the beautiful of the open fields and meadows with surrounding mountain views in the Keystone Ranch area. This log-home style property is big and grand, welcoming you with a huge second story porch and stone pillars. As you walk into this property, the vaulted ceilings hit you with a super-spacious feel and everything screams GRAND, like the large exposed wood beams that are seen throughout the home and beautiful wood beam staircase. The furnishings are nice, but not ‘too nice’ – you’ll feel very comfortable relaxing here. A large elk with a big rack is mounted on the wall and really adds to the mountain feel of this private home in Keystone. A large, open kitchen with chef grade appliances will make it easy to prepare that family meal. A large stone hearth fireplace in the grand room will warm you up on that snowy night. Stare out at the mountains through the large picture window. There are also multiple fireplaces in other rooms of this house. Spacious cozy bedrooms and a private hot tub top off this property as a place that any family would love to spend some together at during the holidays on a mountain ski trip.
This 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo is located in River Run Village and has an amazing ski slope view. Hardwood floors are a nice upgrade with a cozy sectional sofa, large flatscreen TV and plenty of seating in the living room. The best part of this room? The coffee table – it’s a working mini foosball table that will keep kids (or those ‘kids at heart’) occupied for hours. I can just see our family curling up here on the sofa for a game night or movie by the warm fireplace. The location is perfect, we can walk around the village, to dinner, to go shopping, ice skating or just to hang out by the gas firepit in the village. Then we can head to the heated pool which features a WATER SLIDE and two hot tubs to warm up in as the snow falls. This great building also has a steam room, kids playhouse with a kids castle and movie theatre room with comfy reclining leather seats and huge flat screen TV! The gondola is just yards away to make carrying our ski gear to the slopes a breeze. I can picture it now… a quiet Christmas morning on the slopes, followed by a warm meal, opening a few presents and then a soak in the hot tub, enjoying our family time together.
This 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo is located in North Keystone and everything about it screams MOUNTAINS! This property is a multi-level condo that has some great features like vaulted ceilings and lots of windows. The main level has unbeatable views outside of the lodgepole pines and snowy meadows and would be great to sit and watch the snow fall on a winter evening. Wood floors grace most of the main level and the living room has a fireplace. Tons of little details add to the mountain charm of this condo, like the forest themed iron fireplace cover, moose on the couch pillows and the gorgeous staircase which has a tree and leaf theme. The bedrooms all feature cozy quilts and really will make you feel at home. The master bedroom has a built in wall gas fireplace, perfect to curl up by on a winter night or to warm you up in the morning before crawling out of bed to head to the slopes. There is a great upper level balcony at this property if you happen to get a warm afternoon, get out and take in the fresh air. The kitchen is spacious and features stainless steel appliances and beautiful granite countertops. I would love to take my family here for a wonderful holiday break at Keystone!

You may have questions or be worried about the experience you will have staying with SummitCove Lodging in Keystone. Here you can find a testimonial on what you can expect when you stay with SummitCove. Summit County has some of the best hiking I have ever experienced with the beautiful Rocky Mountain landscape. Keystone has a lot of different activities for the outdoor enthusiast to enjoy. After a fulfilling day of hiking the Peru Creek Trail in Keystone, I wanted to find a lodging option that had a hot tub to soak my muscles! SummitCove helped me find a great deal last minute.
For my stay, I booked a 1 bedroom condo in Lakeside Village. A little information about the lodging Montezuma #1750 is a quiet, spacious condo with a wood-burning fireplace, lots of natural light from the ample windows, and spectacular views from slopeside to lakeside. The kitchen is well equipped with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and everything you need to make preparing meals a breeze for you on your vacation. The dining table that seats four comfortably is perfect for meals or playing games at the end of the day. Enjoy relaxing in the spacious living room with lots of ambiance. The rock fireplace creates such a cozy setting, you might just fall asleep while watching the flat screen TV. The sofa pulls out into a queen bed for extra sleeping capacity. Sleep like a king in this luxurious king size bed. Enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony with direct views of the mountains.
The check-in process at SummitCove: As soon as I chose my lodging option and booked my room in Lakeside Village I received an email confirmation with detailed instructions on where the check-in office was located, directions to my condo, my vacation dates, and other pertinent information. I was made aware of when my room was ready for me conveniently through a text message. Having a friendly face to welcome me to SummitCove started my night off pleasantly. The front desk staff was very knowledgable of the area to help direct me to my condo.
SummitCove has a staff member on duty 24/7 for your needs and assistance. Locked your keys inside your room? No problem! A staff member will be on route to let you back in ASAP. Upon my arrival to my room, I found a squeaky clean condo that was supplied with the basic necessities one needs on vacation including kitchen and bath supplies.
While staying in the Montezuma condo, I indulged in all the amenities the property had to offer including a cozy fireplace, plush king bed, humidifier, common area pool and hot tub. SummitCove supplies fire starter packs which made it convenient for me to start my own fire. I cuddled up to the toasty fire and dozed on and off to an audio book. I made my way to the bedroom and peacefully fell asleep in the roomy bed. The blinds in the bedroom made it very relaxing to sleep in the next morning.
After my amazing night in the condo, SummitCove made my check-out process as easy as check-in. All I had to do was bring my keys to the front desk and drop them off. Needless to say, I can’t wait to stay with SummitCove in Keystone again soon!
Do you enjoy wine, food, music and supporting a great course? If yes, you should be attending the Wine in the Pines event this weekend. There will be almost 500 different wines to choose from! Wine in the Pines is a yearly event that has taken place for the last 25 years. The owners of Dillon Ridge Liquors in Summit County put on the event every year. This event is to create recognition for October being National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).
The weekend is broken up into two different event days. Friday, October 21st, 2016 you can attend a dinner that includes a five course meal professional executed by the Keystone Ranch’s chef, Steve Vlass. He will be creating a food menu that pairs beautifully with the wine selections offered. The theme for Friday night is a denim and diamond theme with a denim dress code.
Saturday night you will enjoy a fun and eccentric 70’s disco theme. The dress code for Saturday nights festivities will be a very formal attire, black tie. There will be tons of great music and yummy wine tasting. Live and silent auctions will also be taking place Saturday night, followed by scrumptious desserts.
The location of Wine in the Pines will be at the Keystone Conference Center starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance online here. Tickets cannot be purchased for Friday only.
Need lodging for after the events? Do not worry SummitCove Lodging in Keystone has plenty of lodging options for you. Last minute plans? No problem, we can help you select and book a room, hassle free. So you put your boogie shoes on and support a great cause as you sip some great wine!
The Pines #2058 Imagine this: you’ve been skiing amazing Colorado snow all day, you return to your condo and put your feet up by the wood burning fireplace while the snow falls outside. Your dinner is baking in the oven and the aroma drifts through the condo, reminding you that you can probably have a second helping since you’ve burned most of it off that day carving through the moguls and trees or over pleasant groomers.
After dinner, you sit down to play a round of cards, but the majestic views outside are just too mesmerizing. You’re reminded of exactly why you booked your Keystone vacation: you needed a break from the hustle and bustle of life to enjoy your family and friends in an incredible location.
If this is where you want to see yourself, Pines 2058 is the condo for your family. This comfortable Pines condo has a downstairs master bedroom with a queen sized bed, an ensuite bathroom and a large desk. Attached to the downstairs master is a small kids bunk room with views of east towards Loveland Pass. The upstairs loft is spacious and equipped with a king sized bed and attached bathroom and lighted by a skylight above the desk. The plush oversized sofa is like relaxing on a cloud while you watch the flat screen tv and cuddle up with your family. The wood-burning fireplace is the star of this room and will warm you up on even the chilliest winter evening.
Don’t forget about the updated and well-appointed kitchen! With beautiful cabinetry and updated appliances, you will enjoy cooking all of your favorites here. As you dine in the cozy dining area, you will feel the heat of the large, central fireplace. This third floor vacation property will give you uninhibited views and the comfort of knowing that no one will be stomping on floor above.
Staying at the Pines gives you access to the Pines clubhouse! This clubhouse is equipped with a number of convenient amenities. A large heated pool and two hot tubs serve as the main attraction while the clubhouse also houses a laundry facility and vending services. A common grill is located just outside for all your cookout needs. Parking is plentiful and luggage wagons make unloading your car easy. Further, Pines is located just off of the bike path that runs along the Snake River. Keep your eyes out for wildlife in the area as moose have been known to enjoy the open areas near the river!
As you stare out the window at the falling snow, think about the many inches of powder that await you in the morning on the top of Dercum Mountain! Imagine the grandeur of the mountains towards Loveland pass because if the snow cleared just enough, you would be staring them down from your third floor views. It’s easy to get to the mountain from The Pines too, just hop on the free shuttle that picks up right at The Pines complex. It runs about every 20 minutes and drops you off at the slopes! Picture your family laughing and enjoying the cozy fireplace while they tell tales of their epic snow adventures. This is the kind of vacation you can expect when you book your SummitCove lodging here in Keystone! We look forward to booking your lodging at Pines 2058 in West Keystone!
