We always rent separate condo’s for each family, that way, if anyone needs a break they can retreat to their own private space for a while. The condo’s in the River Run Village are terrific for many reasons: first of all, they have built in meeting space in the wonderful pedestrian village complete with tables, chairs and umbrella’s to keep the sun away for enjoyable family talks in the sunny Colorado mornings while drinking your coffee and waking up at a leisurely pace. The adults in our family get up early and congregate in the beautiful Colorado mornings to read, chat and plan each day’s activities. The kids bring their bikes, scooters or roller blades and get rid of their early morning energy while the adults relax. The condo’s in the village all have full kitchens and great lobby area’s where everyone can meet for dinner. Each family has a designated night to cook during our trip so they prepare a meal and we take over the lobby area for a nice relaxing dinner with plenty of room for everyone. Most of the lobby’s also have pool tables, tv’s and other games and activities that can be very enjoyable for the all.
Keystone’s River Run Village has a lot of family friendly activities where kids of any age can have a great time! Find out when the Kids Discovery Days are or the River Run Kidzfest and you will have a full day of entertainment for the younger children in your group. There is also a great miniature golf course and playground at the west end of the village in Dercum Square, pools and hot tubs available to all of the condo’s in the village and another play area for kids at the edge of the Snake River. Speaking of the Snake River, it is a great place for fishing during the summer months! From the River Run Village there are also plenty of trails for walking or biking and you can get anywhere in Keystone very easily. You can also use Keystone as your starting point and bike to Lake Dillon, Breckenridge or all the way to Vail!
If you want to head up the mountain on the gondola, you are just a minute or two walk from the condo’s at River Run Village. You can hike at the top of the mountain or even hike down the mountain, or for the true daredevil in your group, Keystone has some of the best mountain biking you can experience in Colorado. Let the chairlift or gondola bring your bike to the top for you and enjoy yourself all the way down!
Our family likes to entertain ourselves with what we call the “Family Olympics” every year. This can be a time of great family fun along with some guaranteed tears from the losing team! We play a mean game of volleyball at the sand volleyball court on the edge of Lakeside Village every year. The morning tends to be the best time for this and the court is first come, first served so we walk or take the free shuttle to the Lakeside Village and the game is on! We also like to have mini golf wars between the families, swimming relays in the pool at the Dakota building and Baseball is a must. There are baseball fields tucked in behind the outlet stores on the East side of I-70 and some real life butt whooping goes on down there. Remember, “There is no crying in baseball”!
At the end of each day’s competition, the losing team has to buy drinks and appetizers for the winning adults at Kickapoo Tavern back in the village. The kids can partake in their fabulous alcohol free drinks too.
There is always an abundance of activities to experience when you stay in the River Run Village so invite the entire family and don’t forget your camera!
