When the snow melts and the wildflowers start to pop, Keystone Resort sheds its winter coat and transforms into a world-class cycling destination. Whether you’re looking to cruise the paved paths around Keystone into Lake Dillon or test your nerves on the gnarly rock gardens of the Keystone Bike Park, having the right gear is the difference between a good day and a "best-vacation-ever" day.
To make your planning easier, we’ve highlighted our two preferred bike rental partners at SummitCove. Not only do they offer top-tier equipment, but SummitCove guests also get exclusive access to special rates!
🚵 Our Preferred Rental Partners
1. Norski Sports
Located right in the heart of River Run Village, Norski Sports is the place to go if you want to be steps away from the gondola. They specialize in high-performance gear and are known for their "fast-fitting" process that gets you out of the shop and onto the dirt in record time.
The Gear: They carry a premium fleet of downhill mountain bikes (like the Santa Cruz V10), enduro bikes, and cruiser e-bikes for those who want a little boost.
The Perk: All rentals include a complimentary helmet and lock, and their staff are experts at matching your bike's suspension to your riding style and the day's trail conditions. Plus, as a SummitCove guest, you'll receive an exclusive discount in the Key to Keystone coupon book.
Location: Steps from the River Run Gondola.
2. Mountain View Sports
A local staple since 1983, Mountain View Sports is family-owned and operated with a reputation for some of the best customer service in the county. They are located just off Highway 6, making them a perfect stop if you're staying in Mountain House or Lakeside Village.
The Specialty: Beyond traditional and e-bike rentals, they offer the legendary "Vail Pass Shuttle." They’ll drive you to the summit of Vail Pass and let you coast 12 miles back down to Frisco or Dillon (or back to Keystone if you are feeling like a big ride!) on a paved path. It’s "all downhill," and super scenic, making it the ultimate activity for families or those still adjusting to the altitude.
The Gear: A massive selection of path cruisers, road bikes, e-bikes, plus trailers and "tag-a-longs" for the littlest riders.
Location: 22869 US-6, Keystone.
🗺️ Where Should You Ride?
Once you’ve grabbed your gear from Norski or Mountain View, where do you head? Keystone offers three distinct "vibes" for cyclists:
The Bike Park (Downhill): Take the lift to the top of Dercum Mountain and choose from over 30 trails. Beginners should stick to "Easy Street," while experts can hunt for air on "Money."
The Snake River Path (Cruising): A paved, winding path that connects River Run to Lakeside Village and continues all the way to the Dillon Marina. It’s mostly flat and perfect for a scenic afternoon ride.
Keystone to Montezuma (Road/Gravel): For those looking for a workout, follow the road from River Run toward the old mining town of Montezuma. You’ll be rewarded with incredible high-alpine views and a peaceful, secluded atmosphere.
Dillon 'Dump Loop' Trails: A nice mix of beginner and intermediate trails with a variety of loop options, just 5 minutes from Keystone.
