Summer is well underway and Fall will be here before you know it, with kids back to school, cooler temperatures and of course, Oktoberfest celebrations. Send off summer right with one last mountain getaway in Keystone over Labor Day weekend.

The 4th annual Das Bier Burner 5K is scheduled for Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Keystone. This fun 'beer' run features a smooth course over rolling hills, mostly on a paved bike path, starting and finishing in Keystone's River Run Village.
Runners will enjoy the serene setting and great mountain views throughout the race! All ages are welcome and this event is family-friendly; you can even push a stroller if you want to run with your little ones! Every runner receives a reusable goody bag and t-shirt at check-in, as well as a free brat and a beer (for those over 21+) after the race! Come up early on Friday night to get a good night's rest and check-in early from 1 - 8 pm at the SummitCove check-in office. All registered runners receive 35% off weekend
lodging with SummitCove. If you can't make it on Friday, get checked in for the race near the River Run Village entrance on Ida Belle drive from 8:45 - 11:30 am on Saturday morning. Same day registrations will be accepted unless the race has already sold out, but same-day t-shirts are not always a guarantee, so why not
register now?

This event supports charity partner, the
SOS Outreach. This non-profit organization works with underprivileged youth, ages 8 - 18, to promote growth, skills and personal development through outdoor sports programs such as skiing, mountain biking and climbing. A portion of the proceeds of this event go directly to the Summit County SOS Outreach group. You will see some of their kids out on the course on race day cheering you on!
The race starts at 12pm with a mass start and heads out towards East Keystone down Montezuma road. Soon the course heads south, up and around
Settler's Creek Townhomes and down near the Snake River. Runners will kick it into high gear as they pass by the gondola and head into the finish, lapping around River Run as they are cheered on by the SummitCove Yeti and other fans armed with lots of cowbells!
This event is nothing but fun for everyone involved! Costumes are highly encouraged, whether it's your Yeti suit, lederhosen or dirndls! A 'Best Costume' prize will be awarded during the prize ceremony. Whether you enjoy a leisurely jog, fast-paced walk or are obsessed with coming in the top 10, this race is for you. If you are one of those hoping to cross the finish line first, you are in for some great prizes! Prizes change from year to year, but past year's prizes have included custom event beer steins,
Freshie's gift baskets, zip lining tours, free lodging in Keystone, sports equipment, snowmobiling, beer socks and more!

Keystone Oktoberfest kicks off directly after the race at 1pm, which is where you can enjoy your complimentary brat from New Moon Cafe and New Belgium beer. The 'Summit Concert Band' kicks things off at 1pm and then local Oktoberfest favorite, 'Those Austrian Guys' start 2pm and play all afternoon until the last 'Prost' at 6pm. There will be lots of fun kid's activities happening including free face painters, a bounce house and the Edelweiss Schuhplattlers, Polka Dancers, who will encourage everyone to dance! You'll also find some great deals at the River Run Merchant tent sale as they clear out the summer inventory and get ready for winter. German themed food and beer will be served all afternoon. Commemorative Keystone Oktoberfest mugs are available for purchase in advance for $35 with 3 refills.
