The World's Largest Snowfort on Dercum Mountain
The snow fort typically opens in mid-December and is arguably one of the best features of Keystone that kids and adults will love. Kids will have a blast exploring the fort, having snowball fights, sliding down ice-slides, and being king of the castle!
There are mountains of other kid friendly activities, from winter snow tubing, to ice skating at one of the TWO outdoor ice rinks, to sleigh rides and exploring the lights in the village. These designated "slow skiing" zones are perfect for beginners finding their snow legs. The very first section of Endeavor even features a "magic carpet ride!" This walk-on conveyor belt is a game-changer for tiny skiers, gently whisking them uphill without any tricky chairlifts. And for a touch of extra fun, just a short distance away is Murphy's Mine, a gentle, twisty trail that meanders through a lightly wooded area and even takes you right through a tunnel – a guaranteed giggle-inducer - the perfect place for a family ski run together.
Discovery: Easy Access, Easy Learning
Located right in the
Mountain House base area, Discovery is another fantastic spot for those brand new to skiing. Its convenient access to the parking lot means you can hop right out of the car and let the learning begin! The Double Barrel magic carpet lift here provides a smooth and easy ride to the top of the gentle slope, allowing for quick and easy practice runs.
