A Magical Family Reunion- A Dinner Sleigh Ride and Smiles in Keystone CO

As I sit down to reminisce about our recent family reunion in Keystone, Colorado, I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of warmth and gratitude. The snow-capped mountains, crisp winter air, and the joyous laughter of my loved ones created the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable vacation. However, one evening stood out among the rest – the night we experienced the enchanting dinner sleigh ride at Two Below Zero.

The idea of a dinner sleigh ride sparked excitement and curiosity among us from the moment we booked our group lodging with SummitCove in Keystone, CO, and they mentioned that this activity was wonderful for families of all ages. The anticipation grew as we arrived at the picturesque location, greeted by the sight of majestic snow-covered landscapes that seemed straight out of a postcard. Our group was a mix of generations, from the youngest toddlers to the most seasoned family members, and we were all eager to start this winter adventure together.

As we approached the sleighs and huge mules, the excitement in the air was bubbling. The friendly staff, at Two Below Zero, which were real Colorado cowboys and cowgirls, welcomed us with warm smiles and helped us onto the huge sleighs, each pulled by a team of magnificent mules. Snuggled under cozy blankets, we set off on a magical journey through the snow-covered meadows and pine forests. As we glided on the snowy path our mule driver told us many interesting facts about the mule team and treated them like part of the family. The children loved the mules and learning about them.

The rhythmic sound of the mules' hooves and the jingling of bells on the sleigh created a serene atmosphere, allowing us to soak in the beauty of our surroundings. The crisp mountain air filled our lungs as we marveled at the snowflakes dancing, creating a winter wonderland that seemed straight from a fairy tale. Every direction was a majestic mountain view and the sun setting behind the snowy peaks created a bright sunset and an alpenglow reflecting down on us.

Our sleigh ride eventually led us to a charming, rustic yurt nestled in the heart of the wilderness. The glow of lanterns and the inviting scent of a crackling fireplace welcomed us as we stepped off the sleighs. Inside, a cozy dining area awaited us, decorated chuck wagon style with twinkling lights and the promise of a hearty, delicious meal.

The mule drivers became our servers and brought out steaming cups of hot chocolate for everyone and a shot of peppermint schnapps for the adults. The dinner that followed was a feast for both the senses and the soul. We savored a delectable spread of hearty winter food, with steak and chicken, steaming soups, and freshly baked apple pie with homemade whipped cream. The warmth of the fireplace and the shared joy of our family's company created an atmosphere of togetherness and love.

We knew there was entertainment during dinner, but we had no idea that the special treat that awaited us at Two Below Zero goes far beyond the usual dinner entertainment. Country Western singer David Peel boomed on the small stage, transforming an already incredible night into an unforgettable experience. What sets David apart is his ability to connect with the audience on a personal level. His renditions of crowd-pleasing favorites become more than just songs; they become shared moments of joy, nostalgia, and celebration. Whether he's singing a classic country ballad or belting out a rock 'n' roll anthem, David Peel has a way of making the music resonate with the hearts of those lucky enough to be in the audience. David's music becomes the soundtrack to an evening filled with laughter, good company, and the unmistakable magic of live performance.

The night concluded with a sleigh ride back to where we began and the ride was filled with laughter, storytelling, and the shared satisfaction of having experienced something truly special together. With full bellies and hearts, we were relaxed and savoring the final monuments of an epic evening when out of the star-filled sky we saw a few shooting stars zoom over us! This was the first shooting star some of the younger children have ever seen.

Our family reunion in Keystone was filled with cherished moments, but the dinner sleigh ride at Two Below Zero emerged as the highlight, etching its place in our memories as a magical evening that brought us closer and created lasting bonds amidst the snowy landscapes of Colorado. When we return to Keystone we will enjoy this magical dinner sleigh experience every time!
