NBS and BIPOC Mountain Collective Event Colorado Kickback 2024

Colorado Kickback 2024: Embracing Culture, Connection, and Winter Adventure

This year, the NBS (National Brotherhood of Skiers / Snowsports) Homecoming is temporarily being replaced with the Colorado Kickback, hosted by BIPOC Mountain Collective, and it will take place December 12–15, 2024, across four iconic Colorado resorts: Vail, Keystone, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain. Designed to celebrate BIPOC representation in winter sports, the event is filled with exciting activities, including skiing challenges, tailgate parties, comedy shows, live music, and more, making it the ultimate winter gathering.

Event Highlights

  • December 12 – Vail Vertical Challenge

This thrilling kick-off at Vail, in partnership with Arc’teryx, features a Vertical Challenge, where participants can compete to rack up the most vertical feet for prizes. It’s a great opportunity to meet fellow attendees and enjoy friendly competition.

  • December 13 – Keystone Throwback

Keystone offers a tailgate-style celebration and a nostalgic vibe, echoing BIPOC Mountain Collective’s humble beginnings with a small group of riders. The day will conclude with a comedy show, adding a lively and memorable element to the gathering. Stay in Keystone and enjoy group lodging discounts with SummitCove!

  • December 14 – Breckenridge Homecoming Dance

Breckenridge serves as the home base for BMC’s community event, featuring an evening Homecoming Dance with live music performances. This dance is a celebration of togetherness, with attendees encouraged to dress up and enjoy a night of entertainment and connection.

  • December 15 – Copper Mountain NFL & Back Bowls

The final day at Copper Mountain will feature skiing in the famous back bowls, followed by an NFL watch party, giving participants a chance to unwind and wrap up the event in a relaxed and engaging environment.

Connection with the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS)

The BIPOC Mountain Collective, in organizing the Colorado Kickback, continues its close partnership with the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS). The NBS, founded in 1973, is a nonprofit committed to promoting and supporting Black skiers and snowboarders. With chapters across the U.S., NBS provides training programs and competitive opportunities for young athletes, aiming to increase BIPOC visibility in winter sports. Events like the Colorado Kickback help advance this mission, offering a supportive, culturally rich environment for BIPOC winter sports enthusiasts. The NBS and BMC collaboration is about more than just events; it’s about building a community and increasing inclusivity in the mountains. This shared mission highlights how both organizations support diversity and representation in winter sports, making gatherings like the Colorado Kickback essential for fostering unity and inspiration on the slopes.
