As a family, we're always looking for destinations that offer a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, and our recent summer trip to Keystone, Colorado, truly delivered! From the moment we arrived, Dakota Lodge 8450 felt like a cozy haven. Being a first-floor condo was incredibly convenient with little ones (and all their gear!), and the private patio became our go-to spot for morning coffee, evening chats, and just soaking in the fresh mountain air. But the absolute best part? Stepping right out our back door to direct access to the Dakota Pool and hot tubs! After a day of mountain adventures, a dip in the heated pool was exactly what we needed to unwind. The kids loved it, and honestly, so did we. The location of the condo can't be beat!
Adventure Awaits Right Outside Our Door
One of the biggest wins of staying at Dakota Lodge was its incredible location right in River Run Village. Everything was just a short, easy walk away – a huge bonus when you have excited kids! We loved exploring the charming shops, grabbing delicious meals at the village restaurants, and enjoying hot cocoa by the fire pit in the evenings.
Our days were packed with classic Keystone summer fun:
Scenic Gondola Rides: A quick stroll to the gondola whisked us up to Dercum Mountain. The views from 11,640 feet were absolutely breathtaking – Lake Dillon, the Continental Divide, the Ten Mile Range… we took so many family photos!
Mountain Hiking: We explored some of the family-friendly trails, and loved spotting all of the vibrant wildflowers along the way. The mountain air was invigorating and the views were amazing!
Dercum Square Fun: Mini golf became an instant family favorite, and the playground near the gondola plaza was a huge hit for burning off extra energy.
Festival Fun: We were lucky enough to catch one of Keystone's lively summer festivals. The village truly comes alive with music, food, and entertainment – it was such a festive atmosphere and we were surprised at how much there was for our kids to do at the festival, like free facing painting, a photo booth, crafts and the Cave of Confusion! We all had a blast.
Relaxation & Reconnection
Beyond the excitement, Keystone offered us precious moments of family connection. We loved having the space at Dakota Lodge 8450 to spread out, cook some meals together in the well-equipped kitchen, and simply relax. The convenience of the underground parking was also a small but mighty detail that made our stay stress-free.
Whether it was paddleboarding on Keystone Lake, enjoying a peaceful riverside picnic, hiking the trails or just lounging by the pool, every day offered a new way to enjoy the stunning natural beauty around us.
