Ride the Georgetown Loop Railroad for a Fun Day Trip During Your Keystone Vacation

One of the most popular options for a summer day trip from Keystone, Colorado is a railroad tour; and one of the closest the Georgetown Loop Railroad.  Visitors of all ages will love taking train rides thorough the Clear Creek area.  Enjoy spectacular scenery, wildlife viewing, and a lesson on Colorado mountain and mining history while you breathe in fresh air in a gorgeous Colorado setting.  The Georgetown Loop Railroad was completed in 1884 one of Colorado's first visitor attractions, designed to connect the mining towns of Georgetown and Silver Plume.

Enhance your train ride with the optional walking tour of the Lebanon Silver Mine, which is located at the halfway point on the railroad.  The tour will guide you 500 feet into a mine tunnel that was bored in the 1870s.  Learn about silver, and early day mining, and tools of the trade.  Do bring a jacket, as the temperature will be around 44 degrees Fahrenheit.

Other packages are available to include dining, wine and hor d' oeuvres, so if you are planning a special occasion, contact the Georgetown train for schedules for the Moonlight in the Mountains dinner package, a 4th of July package, and more.  Please call the Georgetown Railroad at 1.888.456.6777  for further information about the train or booking tickets.  SummitCove is proud to be your Keystone lodging provider when you visit Summit County this summer.
