September Events- Your Guide to a Fall Getaway in Summit County

As the summer sun begins to set, the mountains of Summit County come alive with the crisp air of autumn and a calendar full of exciting events. A September visit is the perfect time to experience the best of both worlds: warm, sunny days for outdoor adventures and cool, refreshing evenings for relaxing.

Here's a look at what's happening at Keystone and Arapahoe Basin this September, offering the perfect reason to book your fall mountain getaway with SummitCove.

Keystone's Final Summer Hurrahs

The Keystone Scenic Gondola offers a final chance to take in the stunning fall colors from above.

  • River Run Scenic Gondola Bonus Weekends: On the weekends of September 5-7, September 12-14, and September 19-21, you can take a scenic gondola ride up to 11,640 feet. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Continental Divide and access to high-alpine hiking trails. It’s a great way to experience the transition of the seasons. It's also bonus weekends for the Keystone Bike Park- enjoy biking in the yellow aspens! 

  • Mountain Top Yoga: Find your inner zen with a yoga class at the summit. Held every Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM through September 7, these classes offer a unique opportunity to practice in the fresh mountain air with panoramic views.

  • Summer Afternoon Club: On September 19, head to the top of Dercum Mountain for this special event. Enjoy a free scenic gondola ride up for an afternoon of live music and mountain views!

Alpine Celebrations at Arapahoe Basin

Just a short drive from Keystone, Arapahoe Basin is celebrating the start of fall with some lively events.

  • Clam Bake at Arapahoe Basin: Join the party on September 13 for a classic clam bake dinner at the 6th Alley Bar & Grill. This community celebration features delicious seafood, cocktails, and live music, making it a perfect pre-autumn festivity.

  • Hazel Miller Concert: The Hazel Miller Band is bringing their soulful sound to the mountains for a free concert on September 14. Grab some food and drinks and enjoy a high-altitude performance at the Mountain Goat Plaza.

  • Arapahoe Basin Oktoberfest: Get a taste of Bavaria on September 20 - 21. This classic Oktoberfest celebration features live Austrian folk music, beer, and soft pretzels. You can also get a free lift ride on the Black Mountain Express chairlift to take in the scenery and fall colors!

Live Music at the Dillon Amphitheater

For music lovers, the nearby Dillon Amphitheater has a stacked calendar of events. Enjoy a concert with a stunning backdrop of Lake Dillon and the Gore Range, just 10 minutes from Keystone.  Take advantage of the free Summit Stage busy for an easy way to get to and from the concert! 

  • Rainbow Kitten Surprise will be performing on September 5 and 6.

  • The sold-out Train show is on September 7.

  • Don't miss the free "Mountain Music Monday" concerts with Karl Denson's Tiny Universe on September 8 and The Williams Brothers Band on September 15.

  • Other highlights include The Floozies + Dirtwire on September 13 and Big Head Todd and The Monsters on September 20.
