What Makes Keystone the Best Ski Resort for Families? Kidtopia!

Many people with families wonder which Colorado Ski Resort will be the best fit for their family.  In addition to the multiple ski schools and learning areas, 2 outdoor skating rinks, a tubing hill, sleigh rides, outdoor firepits, amazing pool areas, great dining options and family ski runs, Keystone has even more to offer families.  Keystone 'Kidtopia' offers free daily activities, designed just for kids, offered all season long. Kidtopia runs daily events for most of the ski season (and the summer season too), from November 23, 2019 to April 12, 2020, with a few exceptions. The majority of the activities offered are absolutely free to participate in and take place at the Kidtopia Headquarters, which is located at the main level of Expedition Station in River Run Village, unless an event notes a registration fee or different location. Keystone really is the place for kids and for your next family ski vacation!   There are two events that happen every single day of Kidtopia; you can hang out and do activities at the Kidtopia Headquarters anytime from 9:30 am - 2:30 pm.  You can also enjoy FREE COOKIES during 'Cookie Time' at the Activities & Dining Office in Buffalo Lodge at 4 pm. On Saturdays, Cookie Time follows the Ripperoo Parade at the Dercum Square Ice Rink instead of the A & D Office.   On Mondays, relax with popcorn and a feature flick at the 'Winter Movie Matinee' starting at 4:30 pm.  Tuesdays you can 'Listen & Learn: Music 101', from 10 - 11am where kids will have a chance to make their own music, learn about different instruments and play musical games.  In the afternoon, beginning at 4:30 pm, 'Meet the Avy Dog' from Keystone's avalanche team and learn about avalanche safety.  On Wednesdays, you can get crafty at 'Craft-er-noon', where you will get to create a winter craft to take home with you to remember your trip to Keystone! Class is from 1:30 - 2:30 pm.  Thursday's Kidtopia Event Lineup is stacked! At 1:30 pm, choose 'Colorado's Critters' wildlife education station, hosted by Friends of the Dillon Ranger District, learning about animals like black bears, beavers, mountain goats and moose! Or get outside and learn how to cross-country ski at 'My First Cross Country Ski', from 1:30 - 2:45 pm at the Keystone Nordic Center, this class includes all the gear and you must be there promptly at 1:30 pm! If you still have the energy, make a reservation for 'Cupcakes & Canvas', from 4:30 – 5:30 pm. Cost for this event is $15 per person and reservations are required, call 970-496-4386 to book.  Kids will be instructed on how to paint their own acrylic masterpiece, while enjoying a cupcake!   As you head into your weekend at Keystone Resort, there are even more daily events happening with Keystone Kidtopia! Fridays teach kids about snow at 'Super Snowy Science', led by our friends from the Keystone Science School.  Learn about snowflakes, snow layers, the snow cycle and avalanche safety, from 1 - 2 pm every Friday at Kidtopia Headquarters. At 4:30 head to Mountain House on the 2nd floor for 'Ripperoo's Milkshake Social', where you can color your own milkshake mug, fill up on milkshakes and get a photo with Ripperoo! Saturdays from 12 - 2:30, pop in for a fun craft and get your face painted just how you want at 'Craft-er-noon & Face Painting'.  Saturday nights are our favorite, featuring the 'Kidtopia Fireworks' over River Run at 7 pm (switching to 8 pm from Mar. 14 – Apr. 11)! Cap off the weekend with 'Kidtopia Bingo & Facepainting' on Sunday afternoon from 12 - 2:30 pm at the Kidtopia Headquarters.   Now you can see why Keystone is a kid's dream come true and the perfect destination for families!  Book your family ski vacation now with SummitCove Lodging and bring your dream vacation to life!
