Annually, the Pro Challenge races through some of the best towns in Colorado and challenges even some of the best cyclists throughout the race. This year, Women will be included in the challenge and will be competing for the same prize money as the men. According to the USA Pro Challenge website, "It is the first time since 1988 that some of the best men and women in the world will be sharing courses at a major, international stage race in Colorado."
The three day Women's Pro Challenge will begin in Breckenridge on August 21st and will coincide with sections of the men's race course. On August 22nd, they will head to Fort Collins and will conclude on August 23rd in Golden prior to the Men's Pro Challenge stage seven.
The Women's Pro Challenge will largely consist of top national riders and Olympians including racers like Mara Abbott, a professional cyclist and Colorado resident. Olympian Connie Carpenter-Phinney also commented, "I know Colorado will embrace the women's race and 2015 will mark the start of a new era in women's racing!"
