What is a Ride the Pass Trip?
The best way to experience Summit County in the summer is on a bicycle! Our Bike & Ski Shop partner, Mountain View Sports offers more than just bike rentals in the summer with their popular Ride the Pass Trips. They will shuttle you and your bike to the summit of Vail Pass so you can coast down 12 miles of scenic bike path to Frisco where they pick you up and shuttle you back to Mountain View Sports in Keystone. You can also choose to extend your trip and ride along the shores of Lake Dillon to be picked up at the Dillon Marina or even wind your way along the Snake River all the way back to Keystone!
The beginner trip is an easy downhill 12 mile coast … They offer 3 levels of rides, ranging in difficulty and length and the trips depart daily at 9am, 11am, & 1pm (they ask you to please arrive 30 minutes early). You can either bring your own bike or rent one of theirs- they will supply you with everything you need including helmets, a souvenir water bottle, trail information, and bike locks in case you’d like to stop anywhere along the way. The beginner trip is perfect for families and folks that just want spectacular views and not much peddling. Many folks stop at Copper Mountain along the way and take a scenic chairlift ride, play miniature golf, scale the rock climbing wall, ride go-carts, visit shops in the village, have a picnic or lunch at a local café. When finished at Copper the rider travels down to Frisco through the incredible Ten Mile Canyon on paved trail. Along this stretch of the trail the rider can stop and sit by one of the many beautiful mountain lakes, lounge by the stream, or visit an old mine. Once in Frisco you can also shop and dine. It is up to you- ride at your own pace and stop as you please. Reservations are recommended. Don’t forget- all SummitCove Summer Reservations receive 1 free voucher, good for a 2-hour bike rental or a $15 credit towards a Ride the Pass Trip with Mountain View Sports.
