A-Basin Becoming More Kid-Friendly with Magic Carpet Lift

[caption id="attachment_12404" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Magic Carpet Being Installed at A-Basin Kids Area[/caption]

A-Basin is working on their beginner learning area and will be adding another conveyor magic carpet lift to their mix, called the Pika Place.  The lift is being installed Southeast of the bottom of the Black Mountain Express, within the teaching area that is designed for small children.  The lift will be fairly short with a very gentle slope.  This new lift is aimed at helping the smaller kids catch on easier, speeding up the teaching progression and making it more fun.  Installation is set for early October.

Although Arapahoe Basin is known for its steeper slopes, it is still a great mountain for beginners to learn.  Arapahoe Basin offers both half-day and full-day lessons, as well as multi-day programs for kids of all ages. . (and adults!) Their Snowsports School creates a fun learning environment for kids of all abilities to develop their skills.  Choose from private lessons, group classes, or one of their many multi-week clubs where kids can learn skills and make friends, being in the same group each week.  They even have a mini-park designed just for kids! The layout of A-Basin is also family friendly, with all the runs on the front side funneling down to a central base area. The Molly Hogan lift is a gentle and easy place to learn, and its easy to avoid crowds. There are plenty of easy greens and blue groomer runs to practice on.

For those looking to visit Arapahoe Basin this winter, it is important to note that there are no lodging options at the Resort, the closest accommodations are 6 miles down the road in Keystone.  SummitCove Lodging offers Keystone condos and private home rentals at affordable rates.  Check out some of our most popular properties, River Run Condos here.
