A Stop In At A Local Summit County Craft Brewery Pug Ryan's

We were driving into Keystone, from New Orleans, for our ski vacation and boy was it was a long drive!  We called our lodging company, SummitCove, hoping our condo was ready a little early. Unfortunately, it wasn't but the really nice front desk guy, Derek, asked us where we were.  We told him we were in Dillon picking up groceries at City Market and he suggested we go to Pug Ryan's Brewery in Dillon for a pint of craft Colorado beer, while we wait for our condo.  It was 2:00 and Derek said, "Pug's just opened and we had an electronic coupon book, in our confirmation email from SummitCove, that would give us a free pint of beer if we also bought food".  Food and free beer sounded really good, so after we loaded the car with our groceries we headed over to Pug Ryan's.   Pug Ryan's is only a few minutes from the grocery store City Market, in the heart of Dillon, an area that was new to us. We have always driven through Dillon, just seeing what is around HWY 6 but when we drove up the hill and turned right onto Lake Dillon Dr. we realized there was another part to Dillon, that we never knew about.  It is a cute part of town, with shops and restaurants. We saw a bowling alley and a frozen yogurt store. We also noticed a bunch of signs for the "Ice Castles" but we didn't know what it was about.     We arrived at Pug Ryan's and were pleased to find out it was Happy Hour!  They have a great Happy Hour, which is Monday - Friday from 2-6pm. Appetizers are discounted, wine and well drinks are only $4.00 and pints are only $2.00!  We were shocked at the prices and at how many beers Pugs offers. They had several craft beers on tap and 6 craft beers in a can. They also have a full bar with speciality mixed drinks and an impressive wine selection. We didn't know which beer we wanted, so we started with a flight. Next,  I ordered the PugWeiser and my friend ordered the Helles Blonde Bock. Both beers tasted great and went down fast. We ordered some appetizers to go with the beers. It was a hard choice but we picked the Slider Trio and the Green Chili Cheese Fries.  The sliders had bbq beef, pulled pork and buffalo chicken. They were amazing and tasted great with the fries. We are from New Orleans, the food mecca of our country and we were both impressed with the flavors of our food and our beers!     Pug Ryans Beer Flight Dillon CO   We were also chatting with our friendly server and he asked us what lodging company we were staying with in Keystone.  When we told him SummitCove he knew about the free pint of beer and we didn't have to show him the coupon. It felt like we were very welcome and they knew we were coming!  We asked our server about the Ice Castle signs we saw and he told us we had to go! He said, the Ice Castles are only in a handful of cities across the United States and they are actual castles you can walk through, with sculptures, lights, and ice carved tunnels.  We were in Keystone for 5 nights and as we talked to our server we made a plan to come back to Dillon for dinner at Pug's and a trip to the Ice Castles. Our server brought us a dinner menu to review and Pug's also has higher end entrees, between $22 and $38, but they are only served after 5:00 pm. When we saw the St. Louis Style Ribs on the dinner menu we knew we would definitely be back!   We can't wait to eat dinner at Pug Ryan's, in a few nights when we go to visit the Dillon Ice Castles!  We will give an update on the St. Louis Style Ribs and whichever beers we try next. We are grateful to Derek, from SummitCove Lodging, for introducing us to Pug Ryan's and this area of Dillon. It was a perfect way to wait for our condo, to be ready for check in.  Now, our bellies are full with yummy food and the stress of travel has been washed away with the freshly brewed beers. Our Colorado ski vacation could not have started any better! Thanks Pug Ryan's for kicking us off to a great start!
