Add Some Culture to Your Keystone Vacation!

Keystone vacations are not just for skiing, hiking, biking and boating.  Summit County offers its fair share of cultural activities as well.  Visitors to the area can enjoy opera and museums, and soak up the rich history of the area.

Located less than an hour away from Keystone; the Central City Opera offers a great mountain setting for one of Colorado's elite summer music festivals.  Carmen by George Bizet will kick off the summer, with several other productions to follow.

Tour the Barney Ford House Museum or the Edwin Carter Museum in nearby Breckenridge or visit old schoolhouse museums in Montezuma or Dillon.  Visit the Washington Mine, Lomax Placer Gulch or the Country Boy Mine.  If you feel brave, there is plenty of history to explore at the Dillon Cemetery which is the final resting place of many homesteaders, ranchers, railroad workers, miners, blacksmiths, tradesmen and more.

Summer in Keystone offers unique opportunities for an unforgettable and interesting vacation.  Don't forget to include some of these fantastic cultural opportunities in your vacation!  For further information about historical tours, contact the Summit Historical Society at (970) 468-2207.
