Closing Weekend at Keystone Resort

There are just a few more weeks of skiing and riding at Keystone Resort, with the season coming to a close on Sunday, April 7th.  Closing weekend is a great time to enjoy one last ski vacation in Keystone, with lots of snow, beautiful spring weather, and tons of fun events that everyone will love! The weekend kicks off on Saturday afternoon with The Last Grind Rail Jam, which will be held at the base of the gondola from 12- 2 pm, the last session of the season in the A-51 River Run Rail Jam series. Starting at 3pm, live music will raid the River Run Village Plaza with the River Run Rocks free concert series.  Catch the opening act around 3pm and then headliner Robert Randolph and the Family Band starting at 4:15pm.  Robert Randolph and the Family Band are a high energy group of funk, blues, rock, and rhythm. They are sure to get your feet moving! [caption id="attachment_14384" align="alignleft" width="300"] Keystone Slush Cup[/caption] Sunday features 2 main events including the 3rd Annual Slush Cup and the newest event, the Red Bull Schlittentag. Everyone is welcome to participate.  The Slush Cup takes place at the Mountain House Base Area and includes a fun pond-skimming contest, barbecue, competitor prizes, crowd giveaways and a live DJ emceeing the show.  The event is $30 to enter and the competitor prizes include 'Best Overall' winning a Summit Pass good for the 2013-14 Season and entry into the World Championships at Vail,  'Best Crash' and finally 'Best Costume' both of which will win you a Summit Pass good for the 2013-14 Season.  Registration runs from 8:30 - 10 am, with the event running from 10am - 1pm. The final event of the weekend, the Red Bull Schlittentag, has been described as 'daredevils willing to propel themselves down a snow-covered hill and over a jump on a hand built sled.'  Teams of 3 will build sleds pre-race day and come prepared to race the course, sure to be a fun event for both participants and on-lookers.  Judges will be looking at creativity, fastest time, and distance 'flown' off the kicker jump. The races begin at 2pm on the Discovery Hill at the Mountain House Base area.  Sunday afternoon wraps up with a band playing live music at the Last Lift Bar.
