Dancing with the Mountain Stars

Summit Medical Center Fundraiser

The Summit Medical Center Health Foundation will host their 3rd annual fund-raising event on Saturday, September 25th at the Keystone Conference Center from 6:00 PM to Midnight with the return of the hospital gala event 'Dancing with the Mountain Stars'. This event is modeled after the hit television show "Dancing with the Stars", and the MCH Foundation is hosting its own celebrity and professional dance competition. All proceeds from this event will be used to support the purchase of a Jackson Table for the operating room expansion project at the hospital, truly a worthy cause for all.

Dancing with the Mountain Stars will feature notable Summit County residents paired with professional dancers from Los Angeles. This glamorous affair will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Items in the silent auction will feature sports tickets, dining and lodging, ski area season passes, retail shopping gift certificates and more. The evening will include an elegant dinner, the dance competition, a dance performance by the LA based professionals, followed by dancing for all dinner guests which will complete the evening's festivities. So for those of you wishing to show off those mad dance moves, you will have a chance.  Table sponsorships, accommodating 10 people, are available for $5,000 and $2,500. Individual tickets may be purchased for $150 per person and remember all proceeds will benefit the local hospital.

Current sponsors already committed for this year's event include Colorado Surgical and Critical Care Associates/Summit Surgical Consultants, GE Johnson, St. Anthony Central Hospital, Vail Summit Orthopaedics, Don and Meredith Van Dyne, Dr. Mark Norden, Rich and Maryann Rowley, St. Anthony Summit Medical Center, Summit Daily News, Town of Frisco and Dr. John Warner. Local dance celebrities include Kate Brewer, Steve Corneillier, Ron Holthaus, Kelly Pestello, Dr. Greg Poulter, Karn Stiegelmeier, Jody Thompson, Tracy Van Anderson, Dr. John Warner, and Gary Wilkinson. The 2009 dance winners, Dan Gibbs and Alton Scales, will also perform as special guests of the event.

Don't worry about novice dance styles, the Emmy-nominated choreographer Mandy Moore, a former Summit County resident and Summit High School graduate, choreographs each dance and coordinates the professional dance partners at the event. While the line-up of professional dance partners is still in progress, previous years' dancers will be returning to perform with the Summit County celebrities. Together, these dancers bring a wealth of talent and experience to the competition, not to mention an exciting event to both watch and participate in.

A panel of qualified judges including District Court Judge Terry Ruckriegle, local Realtor Rob Neyland and 2009 event dancer Lisa Cheek will rate each performance on a scale of one to ten to determine the winning dance couple. Each guest at the event will also have the opportunity to cast their vote for their favorite couple, which will be used to determine the winner of the "People's Choice Award". So empty those coffers and come join the Dancing with the Mountain Stars event, it all goes to a good cause and will be loads of fun!
