Favorite Bites: New Moon Cafe 'Rocks'

One of my favorite places to visit when I'm staying in River Run Village is the classic rock-themed New Moon Cafe. Located just off the main pedestrian walkway in the Silver Mill condos building, it's easy to stroll over to grab a coffee and put in your order for breakfast. They serve the breakfast menu all day long so you can get up at 11am and still grab one of their breakfast bowls or burritos. The other day I got one of their breakfast croissants and added spinach and avocado and it was just what I needed. The owner Barb and her staff always take care of me. If I'm there for lunch, the "Aretha Franklin" sandwich is my go-to: turkey, bacon, avocado and spicy mayo served on toasted ciabatta bread. Looking around the restaurant at all the rock decor is fun and a walk down memory lane when you are my age.

The New Moon Cafe has a nice patio to enjoy your food and watch the skiers walking to the gondola. The seating is comfortable and casual. It's also easy to pick up your order and bring it back to the condo to feed the group who are still in their pjs, usually my teenage children. With a full bar and extensive beer and wine menu at affordable prices, there is a cocktail for all. Start your day building your own Bloody Mary and end your day with a Loco Cocoa: hot chocolate, peppermint schnapps topped with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and a cookie. The craft beers are only $4 during Happy Hour - best prices in River Run Village! And just like breakfast, if you can't stay, you can get the cocktails to go. There is usually live music on Fridays starting at 2:30pm. Sway to the music while munching on the monster nachos or Bavarian Jumbo Pretzels. Happy Hour at the New Moon around their firepit is a perfect place to end your day. To sum up the New Moon Cafe - it "rocks"!
