Tips to Keep Your Teenagers Happy During Your Family Vacation

We all know that sometimes teenagers can be hard to travel with.  They might be too old for camps and 'kids' activities, yet they are too young to be out exploring on their own.  The good news is that Keystone has plenty of activities that your entire family will love! Here are a few tips to keep your teenagers entertained and happy on your next Keystone Vacation.

Book a Condo or Private Home Instead of a Hotel Room
Hotels are great for a quick overnight somewhere, but a ski vacation deserves a bigger and more well-equipped property.  Everyone will be lugging around extra gear, so its nice for everyone to be able to spread out and have their own space.  If one of your kids loves to get up early, and the other sleeps late, put the early riser on the couch to watch TV without disturbing his or her sibling.  It's also amazing to have a full size kitchen and refrigerator; allowing you to save money by cooking some meals at home and even bring home leftovers when you go out!

Choose Accommodations with On-Site Entertainment:
Look for properties with entertainment right in the building- a pool table down in the common area, an awesome pool area, or a theatre room with comfy leather seats and a big screen TV to watch movies, like the one at The Springs, in River Run Village.  This way the kids are able to stay close without having to leave the building.

Allow Some Electronics and Toys:
Even though you are expecting everyone to be outside during the entire vacation, hitting the slopes or the hot-tubs, there will be some down time.  Let the kids bring their favorite gaming system or IPad to play with an hour or so a day.  You know they will be itching to upload photos to Facebook to make their friends back home jealous!

Let Everyone Plan at Least One Half Day of the Trip:
Let everyone suggest one family activity during your trip. This ensures everyone will get to do something they want to do, and be involved in the planning.  Chances are they will pick a fun adventure such as snow tubing or ice skating that will everyone will enjoy!

Book Them For an Adventure Session:
Keystone offers all types of Ski & Ride Lessons, ranging from first-day beginners to experienced regulars who just need a few tips.  Keystone Adventure Sessions are geared towards more advanced riders and allow quick access to the best terrain and conditions on the mountain.  Participants will be teamed with other like-minded, like-skilled ski/ride enthusiasts, who want to get the most out of their day, going places that they might not necessarily go alone, based on the joint interests and ability of the groupThey will have the chance to make new friends and explore some new terrain that Mom and Dad might not want to take them down!
