Summertime in the Rockies isn't just about hiking and biking - it’s about the return of world-class culture to the heart of Summit County. If you are looking for a reason to trade your hiking boots for dress shoes (or at least your "nice" flannels), Theatre SilCo in Silverthorne, just 15 minutes from Keystone Resort, has unveiled a 2026 summer lineup that has something for everyone.
While the SilCo is known for its diverse programming, this summer is all about the Mainstage Series, focusing on legendary music and storytelling that will have the whole theatre humming. Here are the live stage productions you cannot miss this summer:
Million Dollar Quartet
Dates: June 19 – August 2, 2026
If you only see one show this summer, make it this one. This high-energy rock 'n' roll musical recreates the night of December 4, 1956, when destiny brought together four of the biggest names in music history: Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins.
Set inside the tiny Sun Records recording studio in Memphis, this production isn’t just a play—it’s a concert. You’ll hear hits like "Blue Suede Shoes," "Great Balls of Fire," and "Folsom Prison Blues" performed by world-class actors who play their own instruments live on stage. It’s the perfect summer blockbuster for the Silverthorne stage.
Tenderly: The Rosemary Clooney Musical
Dates: August 11 – September 13, 2026
As the late summer breeze begins to cool, Theatre SilCo transitions into a more intimate, soulful experience with Tenderly. This musical tribute offers a fresh look at the life of Rosemary Clooney, the "Girl Singer" who captured the heart of America.
The show blends live music with a deeply personal story, tracing her rise to Hollywood stardom, her struggles with fame, and her triumphant comeback. Featuring classics like "Come On-a My House" and "Mambo Italiano," it’s a warm, nostalgic, and incredibly moving evening of theatre.
The Catastrophist
Dates: September 15 – October 11, 2026
As fall begins to settle into the High Country, Theatre SilCo presents a production that is as timely as it is fascinating. The Catastrophist is a one-man show centered on the life of Nathan Wolfe - a world-renowned virologist (and the playwright's husband).
This isn't just a play about science; it’s a deep dive into the human experience, fatherhood, and the risks we take to protect the ones we love. It’s a brilliant, fast-paced, and witty look at a man who tracks deadly viruses for a living, only to realize that the greatest threats - and rewards - often come from within his own life. If you enjoyed the storytelling style of The Martian or Interstellar, this production will captivate you.
Reply ALL Improv Troupe
Dates: Select Fridays throughout the Summer (May 22, June 12, etc.)
For those who like their theatre a little more unpredictable, Summit County’s favorite improv troupe, Reply ALL, returns to the SilCo stage. Based entirely on audience suggestions, these shows are fast-paced, hilariously irreverent, and never the same twice. It’s a great way to let loose on a Friday night before heading out to one of Silverthorne’s local breweries.
Make it a Night Out
One of the best parts about visiting the SilCo is its location in the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center. With its modern "black box" design, there isn't a bad seat in the house—you are always close to the action.
Pro-Tip: Make it a full Silverthorne evening. Grab dinner at the Fourth Street Crossing (Bluebird Market) or a drink at the SilCo's full in-house bar before the curtain rises.
Tickets: Summer shows at the SilCo tend to sell out, especially the musical productions. You can grab your seats and see the full calendar at thesilco.org.
