New This Season: Epic Mix Guide

For the upcoming '14/'15 ski season at Keystone and other Vail Resorts, a new feature will be rolling out on the Epic Mix mobile app, the Epic Mix Guide. The new Guide option will assist skiers and riders in mapping out their ideal route for a day on the slopes. By asking preliminary questions about skier level, preferred terrain and time available on the mountain, the online and phone application sorts through over 130 options to suggest the best runs and route for that day. The goal is to deliver local knowledge to visitors, providing the best mountain experience possible. The app also can help locals discover new areas of the mountain they may not have explored before.

Epic Mix is a physical tracking app for passholders. Other features of Epix Mix include Photo, Racing and Academy. When you visit any Vail Resort-owned mountain you won't miss the Epic Mix photographers that are dressed in bright green snow gear, ready to take your picture. Epic Mix Photos that you have taken automatically post online to your account that is linked to your ski pass and you have options to view them online, share on Facebook, or even purchase high quality versions to print at home.  Epic Mix Racing allows skiers to time themselves on specified courses and compare their time to friends or even Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn's race times! For those enrolled in Ski & Ride School, Epic Mix Academy tracks progress and accomplishments throughout the season.

Epic Mix is the first program to seamlessly incorporate on mountain activity with social media, allowing users to share their physical movements and personal accomplishments through outlets like Facebook and Twitter. Epic Mix is free to use for passholders and day lift ticket holders, all you need to do is download the app and then create an account.  The technology uses RFID scanners at the lifts to track things like days out on the mountain, vertical feet gained, number of lift rides and other on mountain activity.  The app really adds a whole new dimension to the snow world, allowing you to be able to track your season and progress as well as have friendly competitions amongst family members and friends! Epic Mix Guide is expected to launch in December of 2014.
