Several SummitCove staff members were able to volunteer to help out for the ProCycle Challenge in Summit County and Golden from each of our offices. As this awesome race wraps up, we're sharing our experiences from this week!
SummitCove Golden Office
"When I got to Parfet Park in Golden on Thursday afternoon, I was greeted with a sandwich and a cold glass of water before I started any work. I was there to help set up for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge that is coming through Golden today! Everyone there was really curious about what we do at SummitCove, and glad that a local business came out to show support. I helped set up a few tents, and got to explain to some of the other volunteers what we do at SummitCove. We went around town and started marking where the signs were going to be hung up on Saturday morning. There were some inmates from the Department of Corrections helping. I talked to one of them about how he does volunteer work teaching Mexican children to speak English, since he is fluent in both English and Spanish. Overall it was a good experience, and I am glad to have been able to show the people of Golden that we here are SummitCove are happy to be part of the community."

"On Saturday August 27th I worked as a volunteer for the USA procycling challenge for the Breckenridge stage. When you live in a small tight knit community like Summit County you really enjoy it when the community comes together to work for one cause because it does give you that small town feel. I worked for the majority of the day as a parking attendant, really a glorified flag waver in the airport parking lot, but I had the opportunity to chat with people from all over the US who had made the trek to Summit County to watch some of the best cyclists in the world. The excitement was incredible, and the number of people who were excited about next year's race were always approaching me asking what I thought. It was very cool to chat with people from all over about the race and rewarding when they thanked me for taking the time to do my job. The security guards were especially thankful for our help, although I'm not exactly sure why. Nonetheless, it was a rather rewarding experience especially when I was able to tell people that I live up here, and that I am not just an out of towner up to volunteer. I am already excited about next year, and optimistic about the prospect of the riders taking a route that I have dreamed up in my mind. Colorado has so much to offer, and Summit County will be ready when the race returns next year."
