The Bottle Shop is a new boutique wine, beer and spirits store that opened earlier this year in the SummitCove neighborhood near Keystone Resort. The owners, Ben and Janesse Brown, have a chalkboard set up in the store so customers can make recommendations for wine or beer brands they'd like to see and they also offer a
'make your own six-pack,' so folks can take home a mix of their favorite brews. There is a big emphasis on local and Colorado brands across the whole spectrum of inventory. Brown says the prices are good: because the shop is located in unincorporated Summit County, it isn't affected by additional town or resort taxes. The shop is mostly a wine and beer store; only 20 percent of the floor space is dedicated to liquor. It has nearly 200 wines to choose from — which the Browns picked out after consulting with a sommelier — and room for another 100 after community input starts rolling in.
The Bottle Shop proudly hosts
'3rd Thursdays' each month, in which visitors can
sample wines, beers, and spirits from 4-7pm on the third Thursday of each month. The Bottle Shop partners with other community businesses to bring the properly paired garnish with your wine (think cheese, bread, and chocolate!). Third Thursdays will feature a local "somel-yeahs!" – community members sharing their "expert" views on the featured wine – either a new favorite or old friend. It is a terrific time to gather as a community for some sublime wine and good company! The next Third Thursday will take place on August 16, 2012.
