Your Guide to the Best Free Live Music in Keystone This Summer

Nothing pairs better with crisp Rocky Mountain air and a perfect Colorado afternoon than the sound of live music floating through the pines. If you are planning a getaway to Keystone this summer, you are in luck: you don't need a massive entertainment budget to catch incredible musical talent.

From mountaintop groves to village plazas, Keystone is packed with free outdoor concert series, community performances, and festival stages. Pack a camp chair, grab your sunglasses, and check out all the ways you can experience free live music in Keystone this season.

1. The Keystone Concert Series

If your favorite way to start the weekend is with an outdoor happy hour and great tunes, the Keystone Concert Series has you covered. Taking place on Friday afternoons throughout the summer from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, this series brings high-energy regional and national acts to the heart of the resort.

Catch powerhouse bands like Float Like a Buffalo or Tiny Pockets lighting up the Events Plaza Stage in River Run Village, or grab a craft brew and enjoy a performance on the patio at Steep Brewing Co. It is the ultimate casual, family-friendly way to ease into a mountain weekend.

2. Summer Afternoon Clubs

Want to take your live music experience to 11,640 feet? The Summer Afternoon Club is one of Keystone’s absolute best-kept insider secrets. On select Thursdays throughout the summer, the resort opens up the River Run Gondola for a FREE scenic ride up to the Key Top Deck at the summit of Dercum Mountain.

Once you reach the top, you are greeted with live music, yard games, and 360-degree panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. Food and drinks are available for purchase, making it the highest, most scenic happy hour in Summit County.

  • When: Select Thursdays from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

3. Keystone Encore Series

For a touch of classical magic in the mountains, the Keystone Encore Series brings the world-class musicians of the National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) back to Keystone. These free, open-to-the-public community concerts are held at the beautiful outdoor Quaking Aspen Amphitheatre and around River Run Village. Hearing a live orchestral performance surrounded by towering aspen trees and mountain vistas is a uniquely moving experience you won't want to miss.

4. Free Music at Iconic Weekend Festivals

While Keystone’s famous weekend festivals (like the Bacon & Bourbon Festival, Wine & Jazz, and Bluegrass & Beer) require tickets if you want to partake in the food and beverage tastings, many people don't realize that the festival atmosphere and much of the live music can be enjoyed for free!

You can stroll through the village, soak in the energy, and dance along to incredible lineups without a ticket. Checkout out summer festival page for all of the details!

5. Mountain Music Mondays Free Concert Series

Though technically not in Keystone, the infamous Dillon Ampitheatre is just 10 minutes down the road from Keystone and offers an incredible summer lineup, including free music on select Monday nights with their Mountain Music Mondays shows!
