5 Reasons to Visit Keystone This Spring

There are many reasons why people love to visit the beautiful Colorado Rockies during the Spring time. Although you may not think to plan your ski vacation during the month of April, after you read this post you may want to think about planning a Spring Ski Trip to Keystone!

1.  Spring Skiing Need I say more?? A lot of folks don't realize how amazing it feels to cruise down a 13,000 foot mountain in short sleeves! Aside from the novelty of skiing in your summer clothes, the snow itself is fantastic! Although temperatures have recently been reaching the 50's, Spring time usually brings in some great last minute storms and the snow is holding up pretty darn good as it is. With the whole mountain still covered and our amazing Cat drivers grooming the beautiful Keystone trails every night, you are surely going to have a fun day making turns with your friends. Like I said before, it is hard not to have an amazing time on the slopes when the sun is shining.

2. Night Skiing I don't think there is any time of the year that night skiing could be more fun than it is right now, with the long days and warm temperatures. Right around 3 pm, the snowpack really softens up, making the skiing absolutely excellent. Another great part of night skiing this Spring is that the sun doesn't set until about 7 pm so the cold temperatures are very limited. Here at Keystone Resort, we pride ourselves on having the longest ski day in Colorado with the mountain opening at 8:30 am and closing at 8 pm on select days. We are also proud to have the most lighted ski trails in the state. Watching the Sunset as you ski down the mountain is an unforgettable experience that I think every skier should have to knock off their bucket list. Keystone is open for night skiing through Sunday, April 5th, 2015.

3. Great Events

Spring in Keystone isn't just about the skiing when there are so many awesome events happening around the mountain. There are daily activities hosted in the Kidtopia zone for the young ones that range from snow fort building to a "Kids Night Out." For the adults, grab a drink at the Last Lift Bar and listen to the Swing Crew play a variety of fun music for all or just sit back in an Adirondack chair with a cold one in the sunshine. Don't forget about the historic Keystone Slush Cup or the Red Bull Schlittentag if you want to have a truly epic experience. No matter when you visit Keystone this Spring, there is surely an activity happening that will interest you. For more information about the many events this Spring, check out our Keystone Events Calendar or contact Keystone Activities and Dining at (970) 496-4386.

4. Dwindling Crowds One of the biggest downfalls when it comes to hitting the slopes is waiting in long lift lines. Luckily for all of us spring skiers, that doesn't seem to be an issue. Once the 2-week  'Spring Break' time period is over, it seems like the lift lines completely disappear. It is truly amazing when you have the opportunity to get twice as many pow-turns in one day, especially when that Colorado sun is shining. 5.
