[caption id="attachment_12810" align="aligncenter" width="614"] Views from Montezuma Bowl at Arapahoe Basin in 2010[/caption] Ski season has finally arrived!  Arapahoe Basin CEO Alan Henceroth announced yesterday that the ski area's Black Mountain Express lift will start turning at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, October 17, kicking off the 2012 Ski Season for Colorado!  Come out, make a few turns, and feel the excitement in the air as the ski season takes off.  Several small snowstorms have aided to the snowmaking efforts and the intermediate 'High Noon' trail well be open from the top of the Black Mountain Express down to the base area. It is important to note that there will be no beginner terrain access at this time.   Early season lift tickets at A-Basin are $64 for adults, $54 for youth ages 15-18, and $32 for children, with additional discounts available online at tickets.arapahoebasin.com.  They also have season pass options for a limited time only.   The race to open between Loveland Ski Area and Arapahoe Basin has been a friendly rivalry for many years. Once the resorts hit 18 inches, they are able to open. Loveland is right behind and hopes to open soon, possibly even this week.  Last year A-Basin opened Oct. 13, prior to Loveland, which opened Oct. 14. Last season the ski area closed on May 6.   New at A-Basin for the 2012-13 season is the Pika Place Learning Area, which includes the installation of a new magic carpet lift and is scheduled to open sometime in November. Situated in the base area southwest of the Black Mountain Express, Pika Place is geared toward younger guests and first-time skiers and riders. Pika Place also features a new trail and the Ace's Kids Park, which is a beginner-level terrain park for kids to get an early start on their skills.   Keystone Resort is scheduled to open on November 2nd this year, just a mere 16 days from today!  Winter season lodging is filling up fast, especially for prime dates around the holidays.  If you are looking to ski or ride at A-Basin, check out condos in River Run Village.  There is a Summit Stage bus stop at the edge of the Village, the free bus takes you directly to Arapahoe Basin, about a 10-minute bus ride.
