Locals ready for Summertime in Keystone

Summer just can't get here quick enough.  For the out-of-towners, snow is what they mostly look forward to, and simply can't get enough of.   This is also how we locals feel...until about February 16 ish.   This is the time of year where we constantly delude ourselves into thinking that the snow is done and that February and March are not in fact the heaviest snow months.  We are cold, tired and ready for more sunlight!  So now it is mid-April and the snow is still falling every now and then (usually not accumulating).  Don't get me wrong, I love the winter and I ski and snowboard as much as I possibly can until the resorts close down.  But, the hiking long boarding, short boarding, golf, tennis, fishing, mountain biking, and sailing season is upon us and I am shaking in my boots.  I have been looking forward to this for a while and feel like we are on the home stretch!  I think this year is the year that I get back into skateboarding.  There are a few free skate parks up here and they are full of fun features for me to rack up some medical bills on.  As far as fishing goes my father in law and I already have a bunch of Lake Dillon fishing days ahead of us.  Needless to say, summer is amazing in Summit County.  I am an avid skier and snowboarder that moved up here for the snow, but now that I have been here for a few years, I really couldn't tell you which season I like more.  I know what you are thinking.  "But we always go to Colorado for our ski trip."  Well, I urge you to come out here and check it out.  Even if you don't fall in love with Colorado all over again (but you will), you still might be able to get some runs in at A-Basin, they have been known to still be open until July 4th!  If you come up here and can't find anything to is your own fault!  Have a fun summer!!!
