Looking for the Perfect Place to Stay Over the Holidays in Keystone

Looking for the Perfect Place to Stay Over the Holidays in Keystone?

The crisp December air crackled with excitement as the Miller family opened the patio door of their vacation rental, their eyes wide with wonder at the snow-dusted peaks at Keystone Resort. This year, they'd decided to ditch the usual holiday chaos for a week of family fun in the Colorado Rockies. But with so many lodging options, finding the perfect home base for their holiday adventure was key. Mom gave everyone an assignment to find the perfect place to stay for their holiday vacation at Keystone and then they would all vote on a winner!

Dad was drawn to the River Run Condos. There was plenty to keep everyone busy, from strolling the village to see the holiday lights, warming up and roasting marshmallows at the firepit and of course enjoying an apres-beer or hot chocolate at one of the village restaurants after a day out on the slopes. Plus, the condos were all just a short walk to the slopes, important for him because he knew he would end up lugging the kids ski gear to and from the mountain each day.

Mom had envisioned a cozy, snowy stay in a quiet townhome, away from the hustle and bustle of the main Keystone Village, such as Settler’s Creek or Ski Tip Townhomes in East Keystone. She pictured the whole family gathered around the fireplace, sipping hot cocoa and playing board games while holiday cookies baked in the oven.

Emily, the youngest in the family, had her heart set on Lakeside Village. Her online search for ‘Christmas in Keystone’ had brought up pictures of ice skaters bundled up and skating on the incredible outdoor ice rink at Keystone Lake, doing loops around the central Christmas Tree as the holiday lights twinkled. She wanted to skate under the stars as the snowflakes fell and enjoy endless cups of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows by the fire! She also wanted a vacation rental that had a pool.

Andrew didn’t care much about the location of their condo, but more about the amenities. He wanted a place with a foosball table and a private hot tub. He loved Keystone Sanctuary 158 because it has a downstairs game room and private hot tub and he would have his own room that he wouldn’t have to share with his sister.

After much deliberation, the Millers settled on a charming 2 bedroom condo at Red Hawk Lodge in River Run. It offered the perfect blend of convenience and comfort; it was close to the slopes, had a cozy fireplace and bunk beds in the second bedroom for the kids, plus a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, perfect for baking those wonderful holiday cookies. Red Hawk is just a short walk from the activities, shops and restaurants at River Run, but is on the outskirts enough that it still offers plenty of peace and quiet. Red Hawk Condos have a large heated outdoor pool for the kids and hot tub with ski slope views for the adults to relax while the kids swim. And of course, the cherry on top was the foosball table in the commons area at the Lodge!

The Millers settled into their condo quickly and their days were filled with laughter and excitement. Dad and Andrew conquered challenging black diamond ski runs during the day and then challenged each other at the foosball table in the evenings. Mom and Emily enjoyed a slower pace on the mountain, choosing the gentle blue and green slopes and took a day off to go Christmas shopping at the quaint village shops and Silverthorne Outlets. The family roasted marshmallows over the fire, enjoyed the holiday lights, went ice skating at Dercum Square, built snowmen, and explored the snow fort at the top of Dercum Mountain. On their last night of the trip, they went on a scenic hot cocoa sleigh ride under the stars, a core family memory that none of them will ever forget.

As their vacation drew to a close, the Millers knew they'd found more than just a place to stay; they'd discovered a place to create lasting memories. Wherever you choose to stay, whether it's nestled in at slopeside, enjoying the views at lakeside, or having fun in the heart of the village, Keystone Resort offers the perfect setting for a family holiday filled with joy, mountains of adventure, and the magic of the holidays.
