For our first time visiting Keystone Ski Resort, we knew we wanted to stay somewhere that was within walking distance to the ski slopes and not have to be driving around too much in the mountains during our visit. We started doing our research and came across Red Hawk Lodge Keystone. It seemed to have everything we were looking for: a heated pool for the kids to enjoy, a hot tub for us adults (a must!) and it was just a short walk to the River Run Gondola and the main River Run Village where all of the restaurants and shops are located. It also included free parking for our vehicle in the underground parking garage. We also liked that there was a pool table in the lobby to entertain us in the evenings!
After searching the web, we found a local property management company called SummitCove Vacation Lodging with great reviews and they had a wide variety of vacation rental condos available at Red Hawk Lodge and affordable rates, too! We finally decided on Red Hawk Lodge 2211, a modern looking ski condo that has a king bed in the master suite and single beds in the second guest room for our children. It is a ground floor property with great mountain views out the back patio and is close to the pool area. We love staying at vacation condos instead of hotels so we have room to spread out and have separate bedrooms from the living area. Having a kitchen during our stay is also a must for us! We save so much money cooking most of our own meals instead of having to dine out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Of course, we do still enjoy a few meals out during our vacation, but in moderation. It's perfect staying close to the slopes so we can head in at lunch time for a quick meal and hot drink to warm us up! Red Hawk Lodge was the perfect spot!
The perfect home base was just the start of our wonderful family ski vacation! In addition to the multiple days of skiing, we also went ice skating on the outdoor ice rink at Dercum Square and snowmobiling. SummitCove Lodging had a great coupon book called the Key to Keystone that offered us all kinds of deals on activities, our ski rentals, dining and more to use during our stay. Keystone Resort, CO is such a fun winter destination and our family is looking forward to the next time we visit!
