We're Still Skiing in Colorado!

Although Keystone Resort officially closed a month ago, Arapahoe Basin remains open as long as they can.  Their current projected closing date is June 5, 2016, but they could extend the closing date if the snow keeps up.  The resort has received 11 inches of fresh snow in the last 3 days and 5 feet of snow since the closing of Keystone Resort in early April.  Spring skiing in Colorado can range from fresh powder turns on a chilly day to slushy runs in the sunshine. It's not unusual to see skiers and riders wearing swimsuits, shorts, t-shirts, and other fun attire on a warm Spring day, stopping at 'The Beach' every few runs to enjoy some barbecue or a cold beverage.  Get there early to secure a free spot, or you also have the option to reserve one in advance for a small fee. Some people hang out at The Beach all day and never actually even hit the slopes!  A-Basin's Spring calendar definately doesn't disappoint, offering live music every Saturday with their Shakin' at the Basin Spring Concert Series and other fun events like the Festival of Brewpubs and their newest event, the Swimwear Parade on Skis.  This fun event is completely free! Registration takes place in the Base Area from 9 am - 12 pm on Saturday, May 21. At 1 pm, watch Colorado's Largest Swimwear Parade as skiers and riders strut their stuff down Sundance in nothing but their swimsuits!

Spend your Memorial Day Weekend in the mountains this year!  Saturday will feature live music from 80's Rock New Sensation and on Sunday, attend the 15th Annual Festival of the Brewpubs while you check out the Spring Rail Jam.  The beer festival will feature music from Jakarta and beer from 13 different breweries. Purchase a mug for just $30 to get unlimited beer tasting from 12 pm - 4 pm. Stay the weekend in Keystone with SummitCove Vacation Lodging and take advantage of the free Summit Stage bus that will take you up to the Basin. Sunday will be the last day of the season that the Summit Stage bus will be running from Keystone to A-Basin. The free bus will leave River Run in Keystone at :55 after the hour until 4:55pm. The last bus will leave A-Basin at 5:10pm to go back down the hill to Keystone. After the festivities, take advantage of a nice soak in the hot tub at your River Run vacation condo! Nothing beats Spring skiing at Arapahoe Basin!
